For gay students so they wont be harrassed as in otha schools.

BELEIVE IT OR NOT, even though im gay, I dont agree with this in a way. Seems a little "extreme".
At the same time I can see the positive side, but I dunno, it seems kinda wierd to me.
I went to a few regular high schools & I was fine. - (then again I was a stubborn punk that kept getting expelled!) - lol. (yes,its true!) 🙂

Shouldnt we try & have unity at regular schools instead??
I guess I have mixed feelings about it.
what do y'all think?

If making a high school soley for gays to me it can send out a bad message. It means you cannot defend your right of living. It means you let anyone batter you, harass and disrespect you.

Well.......I'm not sure.

I remember my high school experiences well. That's why I don't go to my reunions.....enough said. Having a safe haven for the students to be could be good.

However, how many gay people do you know that were confident to be "out" durning their teen years???? I'm willing to bet not many. The school wouldn't have many students.

Finally, and I don't mean this as a joke, can't you see some psycho (or group of psychos) making plans to "destroy" the school while classes are in session, in a violent act against gay people? Could be a disaster waiting to happen.

what are we going back to the days of rosa parks?? segregation in the schools...public water fountains and restrooms that say "straight only?" we have enough predjudice in dealing with race in the "land of the free" we gotta throw gays in the mix too?..kick them out of the military?? they cant fight for thier country? (ive never seen so many gays then i did when i served in the navy despite being from new york) its again the hipocrasy of america..we have to remain politically correct while remaining silent on true feelings..i personally cant understand men wanting men..but ive been friends with gay men..just as im a catholic and dont understand how jews dont believe in jesus..but i still have jew friends.. respect..we all have diferent lives and different views and different beliefs..but were all human .. that common bound if truly understood would stop all of the wars today..wheter they be wars with bullets and bombs or war with words and streotypes..emotional misunderstanding and hate which always leads from talk to violent action anyway..what do you think is the basis for any conflict or war anyway? through history? i dont say "you must love all youre brothers and sisters...but at least try to understand and respect"

As stated above, I agree with unity.
it's messed up that many have bad experiences in school for being who they are. I personally was open, & everyone waz pretty kool with me. I got along with everyone, & most of my freinds were, & still are, the big bad "straight boyz". 🙂
We just have mad respect for eachother.

Every now & then,I still travel to some of the schools I went to up north, & fortunately some of them have "Gay-Straight Allaiance" programs where me & otha peeps go talk & educate.
I think having more of these programs in regular schools will be better than segregating & going to a COMPLETELY Gay school.

I don't personally think it is a good idea because it promotes segregation.

I understand the point of wanting to give gay teens a safe haven, but a whole school is a bad idea.

Chuck, I knew many people in High School that were either Bi or Gay but they did not "come out" because they feared ridicule so I do think that school would have students because maybe the gay teens that we have in society today (& I am sure there are pleanty) will feel they are not alone.

However, I do see your point that this is potentially an accident waiting to happen.

if they can get the funds, by all means let them!

catholic schools have thier own schools.

but, i dont see the difference between the regular schools and the gay schools. does this mean the gays can be more "open" with their sexalities? let them grow up first.....

What people do in their private lives and behind closed doors is their business..

I understand what you are saying about the school, I just think this whole gay/straight bullshit is spiraling into some unneccessary crap..

Obviuosly it does matter who you "do" (per your original post about the "special school")because there would not be a need for a different school if sexual orientation wasn't the motivating factor.
 
yeah.. does this mean u have to be gay to go to this school? no straight men/women are allowed? and how does a GAY school differ from the normal one? i think if people know where the school is they can come there after school and make fun of the students or god knows what else, since thre are many haters out there...

have up to date hairstyles,

and in gym class, they don't do relays.....

they do the 100 meter sashay!
