BabyBB, I think it was a very kind gesture for you to post this. Although most of know of this unfortunate "tradition" there are those very few who are ignorant to it. Never knew what driving without your headlights meant. So this gives them "heads up". Plus, better safe than sorry right?

We are all humans.....some know, some don't........I myself have forgotten to turn on my headlights and just drove off, so have my friends and family; drove like a block, before I/we noticed..............or have been flashed.

One thing I heard of by me was that they were supposed to rape a girl, and when they did, they were to shave a line in the eyebrow. Virgins were worth extra. This was back in the mid 90s though. We're just starting to pick up in gang activity now, especially with the MS-13 on Long Island.

Gangs been around NYC, NYS and every where else before my parents were even born. They have been here since we came on this earth. It seems worst because of the media. This has been going on for years. Some people just don't want to wake up to the fact that there is crime, gangs etc every where even in the quiest surburbs, and boonies.

Oh yeah, no doubt you're right. You should know better than me. What I'm saying is we are SEEING more out here. 10 years ago most of the people have never heard of the MS-13, and now alot of the locals here know of them. Some people tend to be blind to things going around them, especially the negative things. I mean God forbid, gangs in the oh so famous Hamptons? Next their gonna say there are actually drugs here too. Life is like that, every place, in every group of people, there are the good ones and the bad ones.

So true. I deal with it every day. Where I work if we bring a kid to their parents or call them in to pick them up. They have the balls to say, not my kid, you're mistaken. You have the wrong one. Blah, blah, blah. Shit in my day if I was brought it by the cops, I would of gotten my ass kicked up and down. No matter if I did it or not.

It's partly because alot of people today are reluctant to take the blame for anything, and I remember if I did the littlest thing wrong I was shaming the whole family.

I know some are worse than others, or have gotten more publicity. Then there are the small fry members and the wannabees. Some of my ex in-laws are MS-13s and some of those guys are nuts. Although there are lots of wonderful salvadoreños, many grew up witnessing horrendous acts of war, mutilations, death, rape, the whole deal, and were left slightly affected by it all. Imagine if some of these people fighting in this war went of to form or join a gang...

I hate when people, relocate supposedly cause they want to go to a better place.....geeeeshh how ignorant, dont they know, that everywhere you go, we are surrounded with the same lifestyle.

I recently moved from where I was because of problems with a particular neighbor. But when my sister found out where I was moving to, she got really upset. There's too much crime here, blah, blah, blah. She paid almost $400,000 for a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom, and where I live you get at least 4bdrm 2 bth for that. Supposedly there's not really any crime where she is. I baby-sit her son, and recently her son's stroller disappeared from my front porch, and she went into this big lecture on what kind of neighbors I got and she told me it's no good here, and it appeared yesterday- her husband had put it in his car.
 
Yeah heard about this...its an urban legend...I usually flash people who don't have their lights on cuz they may not even realize it (i.e not forgetting but more of a mechanical prob it's happened to me before)

sorry i have to disagree..i moved out from a section of paterson two months ago which at night was "THE PLANET OF THE APES"..the last straw was when my car was being broken into weekly and then they built section eight housing directly across the street..not two days after opening it up..mother fuqs hangin out in the front..cars blastin music and fighting in the street..(who pays for that??..your tax dollars hard at work) you get taxed so these lazy fuqs can sleep in during the day..party and make noise at night..have no job..and pop out more babies so you can pay tax on them too!!!


i moved to an area now still in paterson but totally oppisite..people are nice respectful here and so quiet all we hear are crickets at night now

I was raised in brentwood..and within the last ten years im sorry if i offend it has gone downhill into the toilet it currently is because of illegal mostly salvadorians..infesting it with the gang bullshit (MS 13 in particular) ..and now its spreading out!! (suffolk county police say its thier number one concern on long island now) my question is were so busy worrying about terrorist of arabic descent and what they are going to do next..and protecting our borders?? we have terrorist here now that shouldnt even be here..and there not from the middleast!!! and ther commiting henious crimes right now..what they get a free pass??

Well, I'll say that the illegal alien topic is very touchy. I've worked with illegals, and with immigration, especially during the time when my ex was sent away by immigration. Immigration itself needs some major reforms. I have some ideas on that, but I won't get into it. But this gang thing is out of control. My daughter's uncle came here 2 years ago running from the police in El Salvador and met right up with other members here. Not even 2 months here and he was arrested for dwi- 2x in the same night, a month later, he was arrested in Hempstead on gang charges. I was pissed as hell, especially being my ex used my money I had saved in our bank account that I was going to use to buy my baby's headstone to pay the coyote to bring his brother here. As soon as one of his(ex brother in-law) friends got out of jail, he came to my house to try to meet up with him again. It was about 1am and when I got to the door, I noticed this guy out there looking in my daughter's bedroom window. When I checked her window soon after, I found the screen was forced open. I thank God that I always kept the inner one locked. I called my ex to tell him to keep these people away from my house and to not come near his daughter, that I'd call the police. He advised me not to do that. These people have their people everywhere and they all stick together. I mean, this guy didn't believe me that I didn't know where my exes brother was, and I had to get my boyfriend to come out and talk to him. The whole time he was making these crazy signals to some buddy he had waiting out on the street. I know there are some good salvadoreños, but the ones that are crazy are plain psychotic, and many of them have short fuses.
