freida

According to the king of dance music in canada and our fearless leader himself and the man that hold's the contract the name is "FREIDA" that's it that's all according to Ben at Tiamo records.

haha

the queen has spoken....TOMATO....TOMAATOO.... it doesn't matter how we spell her name...just as long as the music stays great and true....it doens't matter because to me she will always be "FREDDY"....🙂

Agreed! But I would have a hard time calling her Freddy as that's my cousin's nickname, and it's a male, so... 😀

hello

Funny how this Freida(note spelling, lol) thread became this long...
I'm a member of another freestyle message board and I asked them a question whether or not Freida is an actual freestyle singer or she's under a nick... and um guess what?
No one replied... is it me, or no one knows Freida???? But probably, cos she's canadaian, and I'm the only canadian on that message board, so I guess that explains itself.
And about the spelling, if she were to use FREDA, then wouldn't it be pronounced differently, not [free-duh], but [fred-uh]???
Hm, just wondering, lol...

alrighty, I'm out...
peace😀

Actually Freda would be prnounced free-duh as far as I know, because it is actually an Arabic name and that is how it is spelled in English letters. Although, as I am sure you know there are variations to the spelling of any name, so basically whatever strikes your or her fancy.......

Wow wow wow... Freda is an arabic name? I've never seen an arab broad with that name before.... but does that mean that Freda, as in Dreaming of tonight Freda, is middle eastern, in that case? 😱 😕

Freda is a middle eastern used name, my friend's(Persian) mom's name is Freda (sp?), so it's a mid eastern used name. The artist Freda is Greek though, I guess it's a mediterranean used name.

You've never heard it? Strange, I'm pretty sure I came across the name when I lived in Greece, can't remember, but I'm pretty sure... 🙂

nothing comes to mind right now, you know when you haven't slept in a while and your really tired but you can't sleep well that's me right now. But i am pretty sure i've never heard that name before it maybe from up in northern greece or one fo the islands where it's strange and diffrent to me, the southern greek boy.

Where did she make this post? I only saw the post of her saying happy bday to Elissa.....

Ahhh..... I never saw that post 🙁

So she is greek! Cools.... she's goooooood 😉 lol

omg, this is cool... i missed that Post also...
Freida IS Torontomean, yay yay... lol

My Name

Here's the deal - a lot of people ask me about my name...

You know when you have a 'different' name you always search for others who share your name too...

Well I have met a lot of people that share my name and I've seen people spell it in all these ways:

Frieda (the correct spelling), Freda, Freeda, Freida, Frida, Frita, Farida

You guys made me go to babynames.com to get to the bottom of this... the only name I found was this:

NAME MEANING ORIGIN
FRIEDA Peace, Joy German

So it is a real name - ok it's not one of those names you'll find on those personilized keychain stands in walmart... But you will find some Freda's around... actually I was introduced to another one that night I performed at Berlin's.

Of the popular Freda's were:

Frida Kahlo - the famous painter - actually J-LO is coming out with a movie called 'The Two Frida's' that's a biography of the artists' life...

Frida the brunette from the group ABBA (short for Anifrid)- The cool thing about her is I have the same birthday as her too!!

Freda from Charlie Brown the cartoon - She's the little brunette with the brown plaid dress... she wasn't that popular - but she (of course) was my favorite - and there's a song about her too - I downloaded it off audiogalaxy!!

So how did I get MY name? I was named after my grandmother 'Eleftheria' which is the Greek word for 'Freedom'... (hence my original stage name) and my middle name is 'Peace' - can u say flower child? My parents - who didn't speak a word of English didn't know how to translate the name - so the doctor, who was German, who knew a bit of Greek told them to name me Freda which was the closest name... now when they tried to register my name my parents butchered it even more - so my real name isn't even Freda... but let's not go there anymore!! 😉
