HELPING OUT

HI GUYS....

ABOUT TEXAS FREESTYLERS....I DONT THINK IT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH BEGIN DISCREET..IM FROM DALLAS, MYSELF..I BELIEVE THAT IT HAS TO DO WITH GOOD PRODUCERS AND PROMOTION, AS METION...MYSELF, I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET INTO THE TEXAS FREESTYLE SENCE..(PROMOTION)...DANNY OR ANY OTHER FREESTYLE SINGERS THAT ARE INTERESED IN MAKING A FREESTYLE PROMOTION GROUP IN TEXAS(DALLAS) ...I AM MORE THAN HAPPY TO HEAD THE PROJECT WITH HELP "ROLANDO" OR COURSE.....I DO HAVE PRETTY GOOD RESOURCES THAT I KNOW THAT WONT MIND HELPING OUT.....

LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK......

I agree with you.. its not at all about being discreet....(remember when Cesar was selling his cds out of his trunk teeehee)..its about "Promotion" which lacks not only in the lone star state but in other states as well. Not to mention quality producers of this genre in our area (dallas) lacks just as well. It doesnt get the recognition it deserves. Hopefully we will in see in the near future another return of a more upgraded Neo-freestyle. In Austin texas, the dance scene is soo HOT that they have created a radio station geared toward these Cravers of dance music (thats all they play is dance music and believe it or not from time to time they slip in some of the latest freestyle out of germany). And recently, a station here in dallas decided to imitate the university town with-- 106.7..knowing that dance music is getting more and more recognized. Most of us know freestyle as freestyle while those who are not familar with it call it Dance music....also word out is that starting on Friday nites on KNON...a new DJ will begin a new and updated show with the latest and greatest of freestyle ever. CANT WAIT (wink)...Now once i think that this genre can hold its own..then u will see an explosion of artists, producers etc.....and maybe just maybe Dallas will then be recognized. 🙂 PEACE and PHREESTYLE PHOREVER 🙂

If you're talking about Mega 93.3 they are now playing hip hop music like Nelly, Khia, & Ja-Rule along w/ the dance music. From what I heard, this was due to the low ratings the station had.

On another note, San Antonio Freestyle singer Jeannie dropped her new cd this past week. Be on the lookout for it, especially the Rene G/Klub Jumper dance remix we did for her 😉 . I'll post more about her CD later.

I've been coming to club freestyle for a couple of months now and all I ever see people talk about are Freestyle artists from the NY area. Why? And they all seem to be about the same ol' old skool ones ie. Cynthia, Johnny O., Stevie B., TKA, etc., etc. Don't get me wrong, these artists are great and maybe considered legends but damn there are many up and coming freestylers from all over the U.S. and world for a matter of fact. I live in Texas and know of many great local acts whom I never see mentioned here. Have you guys heard of George Patino, Marcos B., Danny Damian, Leo DeLeon, Julissa, Cesar, Tora, Chris Diaz, PFL, Tavey? I think it's time for NYC area to open their mind and accept the reality of freestyle outside of NY. Who knows maybe it's just me who's mistaken and this website is just a NY only thing but I thought freestyle was freestyle. Let me know your thoughts

Danny,

New York is the Mecca of Music Entertainment. Look at the careers built here than some careers built elsewhere. All those artists mentioned are unheard of because they dont venture where Freestyle was BORN!!!!! They need to come here and show NYC what they got. HERE not THERE. But you made a great point to all those here that Freestyle does exist EVERYWHERE, not just in one location. Keep supporting!!!

Phreestylegurl,

i do remeber Cesar, selling his cd's..i will have to say that he was the best that was out there...Im not sure what he is doing...besides what i hear*@*&*.....
as for the radio stations..I think that Rene, is right..Even in Dallas, there are radio stations that throw freestyle w/some mixes of trance, jungle, and techno....i will have to say that KNON is the only one that promotes local artist more than others...if i can get the promotion group started, I think that freestyle in Dallas, will go further......an alot more concerts will be generated....

Not hardly dj rene...
its geared toward the "ravers and Xboppas<---if ya catch my drift. Its trance,house,neo-techno blah blah blah it kinda kicks ass tho..it mightve recieved bad ratings<--dont believe that; becuz of the low play of commericals..(which i thought was cool;no interuptions)....i hafta ask my sister and brother (both whom attend UT)...from what i understand the station was created especially for the frats and soros, college students and not to mention becuz Austin is one of the largest cities in Texas that promotes Raver Carnivals--i.e. Daisy Carnvinal<--- i went and i didnt sleep for like 2 dayz . hits big on the campuses..just ask around but N E WAyzzz....yeah its a matter of time til the NEO-Freestyle hits. PEACE

I totally agree. NYC is where freestyle was born so it's only natural that most of the peeps here are from the NYC or even the tri state area. As a matter of fact I never realized that people outside of NYC knew about freestyle until I went to Miami one year and saw that this station called Power 96 was playing lots of freestyle. Now whenever I go down there I must admit I don't here any freestyle on that station so I don't know where to get it in Miami. When I'm at home in NYC I know places to find it. It never once seemed odd to me that there are lots of peeps from NYC here, but I'm for any place that supports freestyle. 🙂

They did promote the EDC but if you go to their website boards,Mega 93.3 you'll see a lot of disapointed listeners talking about how they no longer like the "new" format w/ the addition of hip hop and R&B being added. I used to be real cutting edge, but now management has watered down the station format. Too bad Austin listeners didn't support a dance station like that.

Hey Phreestyle Gurl make sure you read this. It'll give more of an idea as to what's going on from the listeners point of view. Mega 93.3

Actually there are many artists from outside of New York. It seems like most people don't remember that little freestyle resurgence of progressive new school freestyle that happened on the west coast. Angelina, Buffy, Jocelyn Enriquez, Jossette, Sharyn Maceren, Rosalinda, Christina Marie, Malyssa, Kenny Freestyle, Stephanie Fastro, Spanish Fly, and many others were regularly heard on Bay Area and Central Valley radio. And I know it wasn't only confined to that part of the west. I heard Jossette's "In A Dream" on Houston radio a couple years ago, and Jocelyn Enriquez on Key West (Florida) radio just last year. I can tell you that where I live, more people know of Angelina more than 98% of the artists mentioned on this site.
I have a couple reasons to add... New York is one of the only cities to have continuously played freestyle on radio to this day (KTU), and freestyle was hot especially in New York, so it hasn't left your memories. Whereas here we might have had some old school freestyle played years ago on radio, but then had several years of no freestyle, so most people don't remember here. Plus, New York has had continuous performances and events, it was a big part of music in NYC and to this day it has not been forgotten, and many of you guys have been able to meet each other and hang out and go to events which is cool (I wish we could do that where I live). Sure its popularity has faded some, even in New York, but there hasn't been a large, continuous amount of radio quality new freestyle has been put out on the east coast (like back in the day) to enable current and new or future listeners to continue getting fresh new music and artists to like, much like today's people get in hip hop, r&b and pop (not to mention how radio has dropped much of its dance music in the last several years); and not to mention all the other problems we have heard about in freestyle.

What station are you talking about? That is or was the only statin really playing dance music in Austin. Unless you're talking about a pirate station? According to everyone I know in Austin, Mega 93 was the only station playing dance music.
