it's been a coulpe of years since plastique played alot of freestyle.it's sad but it seems that a coulple of sets is the max at clubs. freestyle sounds great on the frenzee and pumping in the house and in the car but it seems with the exception of a handful of songs people just don't dance to freestyle and the same goes for euro and house tracks. the more exposure hip-hop gets the more people groove to the music. It's a shame but with so many stations pumping the urban sound this is what happens. Believe me I've seen the rise and fall and the comeback of freestyle on many occasions over the past 20 years. freestyle beats or break-beats are being used more than ever before so the scene is getting some respect but we are currently lack a major freestyle bomb. we need a rockell, we need a stevie, we need a science and for now we don't have that big bomb that gets 70 spins a week. I'm playing some great new stuff on the frenzee but it's not being added to our playlist and that is the bottom line. without a major freestyle hit on radio it's tough to pump it in the clubs because it's not familiar with the masses. Hopefully something big will come out of the winter music meetings later this month in Miami.

I truly hope so! It's quite irritating to hear these Urban mixes all over... I'm not a fan of that. And it's so upsetting to see my friends who claimed to be FREESTYLE FREAKS pumping Ja Rule and other Rap and R&B artists.
I'm a fan, always was and always will be. I hope that something big will come up soon in the Freestyle field.

Big props to you Tony, without you, I doubt we'll be getting ANY freestyle on the radio. :hearton

Freestyle needs to grow with the times, mixing the old with the new & the different. what I mean by that is when in the studio producer should mix Freestyle with some raggae, R&B, dance, Jazz or classical music.

The same way R&B and Hip hop has done over the years, Ja Rule/Destiny's child/Usher/Jennifer lopez/Keith sweat songs are catchy thats what freestyle needs. Sweet vocals.

i've been hearing things about a new Freestyle artist by the name of Zoe i think the song is called this isn't love anymore, my friend has been telling me that 92.5 has the song, but know other station has it, i've been wondering why does 92.5 have the song and not 103.5 i've never heard freestyle played on that station, to me it sounds wierd that 92.5 has the song.

Yuck, Urban music blows! That's why I don't go clubbing anymore, too much of that crap being played at the clubs. Not enough Freestyle, and hell, Euro/Dance are getting less playtime at clubs too. The club scene bites the big one here in the T Dot!

ok i'm not defending clubs (well i kind of am) but it's a business in toronto like it is everywhere else and the clubs/promotors/radio stations have to change with the times. what is sad is right now people want hip hop, house, r&b. and to stay in business you have to play what the majority of the people want. Hey I'm a HUGE fan of freestyle and i'd rather listen to dance/euro all night the hip hop but thats what sells.

but there is a new night comming up in the city, something that will bring back the glory days.

TORONTO_GINO

Zoe is an adult contemp. artist...i think she's kind of new, but her sound isn't even close to freestyle.

you're probably confusing her with someone else.

that's what i was told , my friend was saying that alot of people are posting messages about the song in DJ site and saying that it's a crazy Freestyle song, i personally haven't heard the song yet, so i can't really say much about it.

and i also heard that she was gonna perform at palazzo's at an all ages jam, but didn't end up performing

How 'bout inviting some freestyle artists up to Toronto. If the station has enough money to give away "40 trips in 40 days" you mean to tell me they couldn't throw a couple of bucks your way to bring one freestyle singer or another to do a promotional show at a club where Z103 is playing???

Sure as it's "hot in hell" i'd like to come see the 'actual' performer of the song live and in person. That might draw a crowd, and over-hyping it on the radio doesnt hurt either.

Squeeze a freestyle commercial on more often during the week on 'normal' hours just to remind people about what is goin on.

freestyle artists...

u know...its not that. Freestyle artists do go to Toronto, especially in the summer. We have huge parties...but - the majority of the population doesn't listen to freestyle! Most people when they go to clubs like to hear hip hop/rb. I have friends who absolutely love euro - but hate freestyle (traders!)...its not how many parties you host with big names...its how many people wanna see them and appreciate their music!

i'm sure it's not that easy just to get people up here, and interms of bringing big name artists it's ALOT of cash, cause i've talked to a few and those 40 trips are prob comps from some companies.

put it this way 10 trips at 1000 each will not bring some artists up to perform.

it's up to clubs and promoters to pay for the acts. the radio serves as a vehicle to advertise. As for Zoee I've heard the song and even made suggestions to Gary(TRIBE) but it didn't pan out. Too many people didn't like the chorus and found it wordy. Never say never but for now it has been playlisted. we'll see what happens.

Zoee might come back in a few years, there are alot of songs that come out and don't get played for years, so we will see.

Concerts and big acts are really expensive and it's tough to put together (i've looked into it) but there will be more freestyle in Toronto I'll make sure of it!

As for you guys come out to one of my nights, Hopefully soon there will be another party added to my list in addition to SPA LOUNGE. Hope to see you guys there, and let me know if your comming down.

spa lounge...

u know...i've never been there yet. I guess i have a hard time giving up Pallazzo & Plastique.😛

i have it

i have that song on mp3...it ain't a freestyle song. But than that's closer than being an adult contemp. artist.

Does she by any chance have a freestyle remix?

Tony is right, too - its way wordy! You could barely hear the melody. :blah
