the radio station is a reflection of the people and yes you are people too but don't start ragging on danny d. he has co-hosted the live to air for 3 years now with me and has done an excellent job. If you can predict what danny is going to play then i'll buy you a drink and get you free cover for the next month at berlin. Come to people's row tonight sit by the booth and tell me 5 mixes in a row and I'll hook you up. Don't confuse radio consistency with predictablity. I'll see you tonight. as for Bon Jovi he has been and institution and part of my party night for a decade and a half. If you don't like it then tell everybody to stop requesting it and don't sing with it.

bon jovi/clubs

Spy Boy didn't show up to take my challenge so i guess he didn't want the free drinks and free cover into Berlin(lol)

Save those free drinks for the drunken bastards who dont know any better.

I don't consider it a challenge to listen to repetitive stuff Tony, if I did I would've recorded just one of your Live-to-airs from 2000 and on and listened to it every Thursday night following that.

Innovative means movin with the times, Listen to the competition, I'm gonna pull Flow 93.5 outta the air and use IT as an example. They are just in their "honeymoon" stage of being a station, YET they still get a chance to mix quality R&B tracks etc etc etc AND (gasping here!) Freestyle. YES FREESTYLE, believe it or not they've even thrown in some good ole freestyle (that doesn't include the overly-spun Stevie B) into the mix.

Kiss 92 has played on an infrequent time a couple of Freestyle tracks, and are slowly starting to envelope the artform we hold dear to our hearts.

The thing is here in Toronto, (you've got the Monopoly on Freestyle), nobody else has got his/her own freestyle show. People had no real choice (if you consider Power 88.5 a real choice!) on the Freestyle music that was to be played. Don't let that give you an inflated ego Tony, cause remember this business is a bitch and there are always people out there that are vying for the chance that you've got.

You've got to shake things up, you gotta start kicking down some doors there where you are at the station. I have a good feelin that the Freestyle scene is gonna make a rea-surgance here in T.O. You've got a chance to capitalize on it.

This doesn't have to include Freestyle music either.
You can read this point and say " I don't give 2 cents to what Spyboy has to say, he's just another blow-hard with an aggravated opinion." Well you can take it with a grain of salt, because just as I write this, there are others out there (and believe me there are!) who honestly have lost the love to some of these live-to-airs. The music had to draw me into the establishment. Just a segway here and Im done blabering-on. The "ORIGINAL" Pallazo's on Carlingview use to draw in some of the biggest crowds on either a Friday or Saturday night, why? I'll tell you why, because the music rocked, the music was always different from night to night, week to week, and it always kept the people movin.

I've said what I had to say.

Kiss does not play freestyle. They happen to have 1 dj at the present time who plays some freestyle on 1 live-to-air. The only freestyle song ever playlisted on Kiss was The Underdog Project which people will argue is not even freestyle. Flow plays some oldschool freestyle and funk but would never play Ceres or Sweet TB or Freestyle Project or any of our own canadian artists. The urban crowd loved freestyle in the 80's and then they moved to house and R@B. 80's Freestyle was rooted in hip-hop and electro. Today's sound has evolved and changed and incorporates and euro sound although american are still producing the old 80's style records. Songs from Saphire and TKA will never get airplay on Z. I have to approve every song but it's only 1 hour and once a week. It's not my falut that have a monopoly on the business. Energy tried and so did Power but they couldn't compete just like Ted Turner couldn't compete with Vince McMahon. It's not his falut that he is the only sports-entertainment game in town and it's not my fault. I've said it once I'll say it again and you seem to be quite knowledgeable yet are very naive at the same time. If you can run a freestyle show and keep it competive for 7 years then do it. Drop off a demo tape and go head to head with my show and my programming. I need a challenge and competition in the marketplace would be healthy. It'sa not being cocky it's called confidence. It has nothing to do with ego spyboy but don't make a comment against the station or me or Danny without sufficient reseach and facts. I'm sure you are a good guy just understand that radio is a business and not a play-thing.

Also the drunken bastard comment was un-called for. My offer still stands and we'll make it a glass of fresh perrier water. Get off your computer and come hang with the people and predict Danny's mixes.

Listen Tony, my apologies for the "drunken" comment.
YES I realize what the people are callin in for, YES you play the music that the people want, I realize YES Danny D is quite experienced for a young 25 year old DJ in a business that is a "Shark tank".

I listen to your station quite often, and YES have partaken in the Thursday night LIve-to-air's.

I guess I went off on a tanget with a couple of posts, but maybe I had wrong/doubtfull expectations of certain things and Z103. Maybe Im gettin a little older (maybe wiser??) and the music scene is and has changed. You can say I might have been trapped in the late 80's early 90's music scene where songs were a little different, and maybe it's time to let the younger ones enjoy "The moment".

Correct me if Im wrong (you may/may not remember) this certain station waaayyy back in the late 80 early 90's . Magic 102.5 based out of Upper State NY (Buffalo) they use to play some kick-ass ( And I mean kick-ass Freestyle mixes on Friday Saturday nights) where they rolled into at least 20 song mixes one after another after another. I guess here in Toronto it might be differentfor different reasons. Some times Tony you gotta realize that us older guys/gals sometime's want to drift back to the "Good ole Days" and let the music take us back to happier times..

If this is the current music that gives "power to the people" then more power to you Tony & Danny.

Again my apologies if I offended you or anybody else on the CF board!

Take care!

😉

ok i had to capitalize on this! Join the craziest line up of Promotors in the CITY, at "GLORY DAYS" at Fluid. The best in classic dance/euro/freestyle, and The best of todays music.

It's going to be a crazy party starting March 22, so give me ashout and i'll put you on the VIP.

oooh head to head!!! 😛

What what... don't end it there Spyboy!!! I love this discussion... it's no name calling mature people's discussion about something that appears to be a problem for so many people who are just afraid to call upon it.

Thereo, that idea is awsome... when I make some time I'll let you know, hopefully I won't be too late. Classis Euro and Freestyle is badly needed. That Ja Rule/Nelly so-called music is getting on my nerves... I have nothing else to do but burn my own CDs since radio doesn't please my tastes. (not reffering to Z1035, you guys do a much better job that other radio stations I may name)

you guys haven't experienced hell until you're made to listen to 92.5 for 8 hours a day :freek I'm going to quit my job I swear! I have to listen to Nickelback/brandy/n'stync/britney 1000000000 times a day. feel sorry for me...

* is feeling sorry for Carlite * lol, damn girl... at least u have the radio... where I used to work I didn't, so 9-10 hours in SILENCE.... in some countries(looooong ago), it's a death treatment, lol
