I can only speak from my experience. Ever since the 80's the stations and the clubs down here (San Antonio, Tx) were bumpin' freestyle. It was common to hear groups like Johnny O, Cynthia, TKA, Will To Power, Judy Torres get mad radio/club play. As the newer freestyle came in & other genres of music came up (hip hop/rock)the freestyle sensation died off & was left to survive off the the mix cd's & tapes. Now several years later there has been a void in the radio industry which is Freestyle. Thats why when the station I work for launched (Aug '01) we decided to add freestyle to our format. We're mainly a dance station w/ 0 hip hop on our station. On the weekend mix shows of course I bang the sh!t out of freestyle music both new school & old school. We get so many listeners in their late teens to late 20's early 30's calling us telling us how much they love the music we play cuz it brings back so many memories. Freestyle music is what a lot of San Antonians grew up listening to. Now we're giving their children a chance to grow up to freestyle as well. But to answer your question, freestyle has always been alive & kickin in SA, Tx!!!

If i'm right..the Freestyle Quiz told me that the "Music" was born in '86!

...and ever since I was little(born in '83), I can remember Freestyle being played on KNON 89.3 FM. That's the only station here in Dallas that played Freestyle then..and continues to play Freestyle now. So I guess I can also say that it's always been LOVED in Dallas, and Texas in General. People(Old/Young) tell me all the time that they Love Freestyle Music and I know of *Many* that continue to play it in their radios, at Weddings, 15's, etc.

So hopefully this has given a good hint on how the *Music has been doing in Dallas, and in Texas for that matter.
