Hey,
I was just wondering if any freestyle singer does gay clubs. I know that some do but not all. I think it would be a great way to get freestyle on the billboard club charts. I would love if any one had any info on this.

There is a club in Queens called Krash that is a gay club. Occasionally, they have freestyle performances.

At Krash in recent times there has been Rockell, Tonasia, Coro, Corina.

loveme69 - why do you think that exposing gay people in particular to freestyle would get it on billboard club charts? it's not a bad idea but still... ??

You can also list TKA, Nayobe, and Fascination to that list......besides, the formula worked for disco, and freestyle has a LARGE gay following....so I don't see why not

most definately, freestyle music & some of it's artist have a huge gay following.

Safire recently performed at a popular gay club in san francisco and it was a huge success!

Interesting.

My question is: Is there enough support for Freestyle music from the gay community to actually make a dent? What kind of numbers are we talking about to see a difference at the Billboard level?

you will be surprise how much support you have in the gay community, toward freestyles..

I have about 4 or 5 peeps that have signed my guestbook at my site who are gay and freestyle fans.

Back in the day, when freestyle was huge, there was a big following in the gay clubs. Don't know if it's still there, but I'm sure that there are more than a few gay fans.

I know that as far as NYC goes...there is still a huge gay following..which reminds me I gotta get back to my old stomping ground(Krash)!!

geez... does this all mean freestyle is for gay people or smthng? 😱

Tran man, all music is for all people.

Gay people have a stong underground following for club/dance music. Gay peeps have always supported dance artists. I remember seeing France Joli (Come To Me) perform a few years ago, at a gay club, and the place was packed, and they were screaming for her.

Gay dance fans were among the first fans (along with Latinos and Italians) to embrace freestyle.

Does that make it for gay people, not really, it just means that freestyle has fierce support from the gay community.

Maybe freestyle needs to get a huge gay following to bring it back to where it was. Think of some of the icons that started with support from the gay community......Judy Garland, Liza Minelli, Cher, Donna Summer, France Joli, Bette Midler, Barbra Striesand, Madonna......

i will have to agree with CHUCKD....
freestyle is for everyone...i know that it still has a big support from gay latin community....

gay following.

1. I dont let d'luna the chinadoll (jellybean recordings) do any major show withought performing and getting top notch aproval from a bunch of fickle viscious queens first.
they are the ones that will tell you if you suck and be str8 up forward with you. once you past that test, you can show your face.

we are freestyle breaks artist and our prodominant main following is that of a gay crowd along side a raver crowd and latins.

but the queens have dubed her the new hag of breaks, cuz she is a hag.

there has always been a following in freestyle, but back then the music was diferent.crowds were demanding, djs experimented. now they all find this energy in house music (ball music, circuit).
but thats why there is a success of freestyle remixes into circuite house. (best one i heard was "together Forever 2002").
even the early 80's freestyle fashion is leaking out of the gay house scene.

The mainstream always listens to remixes by big remixers on comercial radio, victor calderone, junior vasquez, tracy young, thunderpuss, etc...and they all get those remixes and productions on billboard charts.....but wher do you think that suport and inspiration comes from....

from the mass oceans of queens wurking and jerking their bosies to beats in the bigest clubs across the country.

still they have no clue.
just like they listen to all the classic freestyle records, yet know nothing of the latin hiphop movement of the mid 80's.

and this record industry...its prodominantly runed by queens as well.
so yes, politicaly, it will help if they actually got a lil bit more expose to freestyle and we have them on our side.

by the way, the bigest hag in the history of freestyle and she is now a legendary icon is INDIA.
which is why house took her in with open arms.
madonna also, since day one.
