Hey what's up everyone, i just wanted to know something, how many people think that the Freestyle Frenzy could be better than it is, like there are so much songs that Monaco could play but he doesn't, I honestly think it sucks.

we'll give me your opinions.

I think it's good, not great but good. Hell, at least we have a Freestyle radio show. I understand that Monaco can't play everything, cause the show has to have decent ratings to stay on, and if he plays only what the hardcore freestylers like the show'll most likely crap out cause there just isn't a big enough fan base. I'm more pissed @ z103 in general, it's just not a dance station anymore, guess it hasn't been for a while. Way to much rock, rap and other crap being played. The radio in general really bites now, only the LTAs are good.

I think Frenzy should get more bounce out of it... some songs are VERY dull in my opinion...

your telling me that if he plays what the hardcore freestylers like the show will crap out? The only people that listen to the Freestyle Frenzy are Hardcore Freestyle listeners, if you don't like Hip Hop your not gonna listen to the hip hop show, and that's the same way how the Freestyle Frenzy goes only Harcore Freestylers listen to it, has the song My only Desire ever been played on the show, probally not, has Lost in Love by Christine Turner been played on it, probally not, and those songs will probally never be played on the show, there was 11 new Freestyle songs that came out, those songs wont probally be ever played on the Frenzy, there have been thousands of Freestyle songs made and he plays the worst ones, if he wants to get better ratings, he's got to start playing new songs, and songs from the past, he's got to try and get the old Freestylers back into the scene, i bet you there are so many Freestyle songs that came out in the last 4 years that have never been played before, and the songs are awsome, but Canadian Freestylers will never know the songs cause those songs will never be played, i think Monaco has to start listening to the Freestyle shows in the United States and see what kind of songs they play, cause there shows are awsome.

i even heard Euro being played on the Frenzy beofre since when is Euro Freestyle?

I think Tony need 2 hours!

Also.. unfortunatly his live feed has been down.
Many of us are missing out until the fix it once
and for all.

Gino, I do agree w/you for the most part. But honestly, I don't think that only hardcore freestylers listen to the Frenzy, if that was the case you wouldn't hear all those dudebridges calling in asking for Stevie B. A decent source for non mainstream freestyle was DJ Con's LTAs, but thanks to Z103's retardedness Con's no longer spinning on air, so you won't be hearing any new freestyle on the radio. Seriously, there's just not many of us hardcore freestylers left in Toronto... at least I don't think there are. I do also agree that there's sometimes too much Euro played on the show... and I totally agree w/what Jack says, he needs a 2 hour show! Then he can play stuff to satisfy the ratings getters and satisfy the hardcore fans, like us!

Listen, Tony is a huge fan of Freestyle and he knows just as much as most of us on this site. The fact is he would love to play some of the crazy old school, new school freestyle out there but he is limited in what he can play. Remember no matter what happens on the radio it breaks down to being a business, and to survive it has to make money. The truth of the matter is the fans of freestyle in toronto don't support freestyle like they could be, and the only stuff that really gets played is the mainstream euroish dance style freestyle. You also have to remember that in Canadian radio a percentage of all songs has to be of Canadian Content, so there is that to deal with as well. And you can't say as of late The Frenzy hasn't played some older stuff and songs that aren't on regular rotation or in the count downs and stuff.

Bro a year or so ago myself and a few others went throught this whole thing, about hearing a more diverse play list, a longer show and we got no where with it.

Good point, THEREO,

But i think the freestyle frenzy could really improve. Sometimes, they'll play great songs, but then, they'll play some crappy songs back to back. Um... also, i don't like the freestyle remixes of euro songs...it usually just sounds identical except for a tiny freestyle beat in the back.

I also hate it when they play songs that make me feel embarassed as a freestyler...songs that sound like they took 3 minutes to put together.

I still listen to it every Sunday...some weeks it's good.

Like that old saying goes:

You can please some of the people some of the time,
But you can't please all of the people all of the time!:crap

Stop whinning and enjoy the show. If you want to hear something or make a request, call up the request line or email tony directly. Be happy that we have freestyle prominently on the airwaves.

We're just lucky gettin whatever Freestyle play on the air.

We had a cpuple of stations playing Freestyle back then 88.5 when it was called hhmmm I think Power 88.5. they use to play Freestyle on Saturday afternoons, Z103.5 back then when it was Hot103.5 was also playing Saturday ONE hour after 88.5's show, then switched to Sundays, and I do believe the show WAS 2 hours, but then was cut for Chris Sheppard's "Pirate Radio" show.

Once 88.5 went out "da window" 103.5 played with it's scheduling between Saturday nights and Sunday, and then it was finally settled to Sunday afternoons for 1 hour. BUT BUT BUT , outta that one hour one your only getting about 40-45 minutes of actual Freestyle air-time between commercials etc. So to put a bring a long post to an end, the freestyle we hear on the radio is a temporary thing, it's up to the person to keep it "pumpin" in their car/house/wherever!!!!:yeey

oh ma gawd!!!here we go again?

Yassou ticanis thereo,
once again we meet! Yes, I remember this battle raging on in one of the most heated battles on the CF Canadian board! It was so intense that Tony himself had to post to set some things straight! Yes, we're luckey to have a "freestyle show" up here. No, we shouldn't settle with "mediocre" freestyle. Yes, IT IS A BUSINESS!!! Tony, has done wonders for the industry, radio, freestyle, fans of freestyle, and has contributed to many of my own freestyle adventures!!! We have so many outlets for new freestyle. As all of us on this website already know...the internet has changed the transfer for information, clubs, record shops, and the heresay of small tracks making it big in a pretty crummy market inundated with honestly lot's of crummy freestyle music! I was a part of a group of people that felt that the show had gotten over saturated with Stevie, Suzy, and Joee. (no offence to those awsome artists) Honestly, these types of artists put freestyle on the map onto mainstream radio. And without that...well we'd all be stuck with Rap, Hip-Hop, Pop, Rock! Now these genre's have merit upon there own groups of followers (but this is a freestyle board. I'm sure that Tony is gonna get word of this post and have a good chuckle! Since it divided the Canadian freestyle community so distinctly last time it came around. Finally, so no animosity lingers....
Tony, once again, THANK YOU!!! You've done a great job Keep It Up!
Bad Boy Joe, keep pumpin out those phat beatz!!!😀
The crew @ CF.Com, Pease forgive us LAZY Canadians for such crazy posts . Hopefully, this won't go on too long.
To my fellow Canadian freestylahs I call us LAZY because we're relying on one person...Tony Manaco to sort out the "bad" freestyle and showcase the good stuff!
I learned that many of the listeners are younger and are attracted to much of this cross over stuff...EUROFREESTYLE (ANOTHER DEBATE ON ITS OWN!) but that Tony's market...
Just remember there are so many other places to get your freestyle fix! (CHECK OUT THEREO'S SITE LINK @ HIS SIGNATURE IT'S GREAT FOR EXAMPLE) the live shows on CF are da bomb! the chat's can be a howl!
I'm not saying turn off the Frenzy. But, if you're that fed up with the show then find it elsewhere! I hated the show for a while but i've recently tuned back in every once and a while sometimes it interests me but most of the time I just pop in a "real" freestyle show! (music that I've found on my own and I like.)
Either way those are my 2 cents!:blah

pino, mei haras.
Thats well put and that was a battle that was really un-needed. But just to sum things up yes we do rely on Tony for freestyle in Toronto and when others try it just seems to fail latley. You guys did know i had a club devoted to freestyle every suday night right. For now thats on hold until a later date, and to whom ever came by you would have known that the place had it's people but the music that came out of that club was what really made it AMAZING and i'd like to thank Bernie B and Elvis for that crazy beats.

Bass, i agree with you if you don't like the show don't listen no one is holding a gun to your head to listen. But if you want to and they are not playing the songs you want you CAN call in and/or email the request you want. Not all will get played and Tony does his best to play everything.

Spy, "We're just lucky gettin whatever Freestyle play on the air." That is true, how many americans come on this site and say "where can i get freestyle music i don't hear any ANYWHERE where close to where i am" so be thankful you can hear freestyle not just on the 1hr show but all throught the week on 103.5, what othe station have you heard freestyle on in Toronto?

And Last to sum this up, I think Tony is doing a good job (i had my criticisms before, hence the whole fight that went on) but i've realized that as i said above we are lucky to hear it at all, and Tony after talking to him so many times knows his music and is not just a part of the music but he's a fan and ask him, it's tough to hear all the songs you want when only a few want to hear them.

Thats my 2 cents for the day, now my fingers hurt from typing!:crap ciao

Hahah, you know what's funny. The whole reason I joined cF was cause of that fight back then. Tony talked about it on the Frenzy one day, and I'm like, cool, lemme check out the site. So thanks to those that cried, cause I woulda never found this site. I think Tony's doing a great job, as good as the big wigs @ Z103 will allow him to do! Keep it up Mr. Monaco! :mdance

but the thing that you guys are missing out on, is that the only people that listen to the Freestyle Frenzy are hardcore Freestylers, ask someone that doesn't listen to Freestyle if they listen to the Freestyle Frenzy on sundays, and what's the response gonna be obviously no, so they get there one hour of ratings from hardcore freestylers and that's about it, if you don't like Freestyle your not gonna listen to it, it's like i said in my post at the top if you don't like hip hop your not gonna listen to the hip hop show.

another thing is, why do you think that Freestyle isin't big in Toronto anymore, cause they don't play the freestyle that they use to, back in the 80's and early 90's Freestyle was huge, where ever you went you would hear freestyle, cars would be driving by and there pumping the freestyle from there systems, you would go to a club or a dance, and pretty much the whole night they would be playing freestyle. Freestyle has to get big in Toronto like it use to be. they got to stop pumping the freestyle with the euro in it cause that is not freestyle.
and start pumping the hardcore songs, i went to plastique one night and they call it Freestyle Fridays doesn't seem like a freestyle Friday to me, it's mostly Euro that they play. and i will never go back there again.

ok the freestyle in toronto is more euroish but no matter where you go the freestyle played there is influenced by the major scenes. Toronto likes it's house and euro/dance so it' just normal that the songs played will be leaning more towards that type of freestyle the so excited, danceish beats. And the fans that listen to the show don't really know anything diffrent not becuase the frenzy doesn't play the music but no matter where they go thats all they hear. No where in Toronto can you go to a club and hear the classic "planet rock" style freestyle, hell i tryed it and i'll try it again in a few months but with out support i can't do it. I had the club running for a month and a half to 2 months with about 1/3 capacity on a sunday and no one would come out, we played the classics, Bernie B and Elvis were playing music that no other club in the Toronto area would even touch and yet the fans of Toronto wouldn't give it a big chance. Ok it was around christmas and the winter is the toughest time for clubs but WHEN i get it up and going again if the rest of the people in toronto don't come out to support such a night, and they want to hear more dance/euro/freestyle and house that is what i have to do. It's a business and thats what it breaks down to. Yes i LOVE freestyle as you can see on this site and one of the biggest fans, and i'm trying everything i can to make it huge in Toronto again but if the fans don't support it there is nothing that i can do nor Tony, nor anyone else.

If you ask half the listeners that call into the show or most of the people that listen YES they are freestyle fans but what music do they know? they know the mainstream music which is good but they don't know how many oter talented artists there are out there. Of the songs on the main page of this site how many will freestyle fans really know or hear? and if they do will they like them, prob.

It's a loop, there are so many good songs and artists but they don't get played. They can't get played cause the people don't know them and they don't ask for them.

You gotta remember bro, that back in the 80's & 90's Freestyle was getting the air-play cause back then we didn't have the "Britney Spears" or the "NSYNC" stuff you hear blaring over the radio air-waves. At that time Freestyle music was kinda 'ahead of it's time' technologically with all the synths and electronic rythms we hear in classic tracks.

Just like Fashion, music also follows a trend, in the early 90's the fashion statement WAS Freestyle, then it was followed up by "Grunge" "POP" and so on and so forth. The re-asurgence of 'EURO' once again is the front-runner of air-play now. There will come a time where the "over-saturation" of EURO will happen, and YES it will eventually turn everyone's stomach and air-play will re reduced.

Everything in music is "CYCLICAL", so somewhere down the road the re-assurgence of Freestyle will make it's mark or on air-play rotation once again.

IT'S ALL IN DUE TIME!😀
