I RECENTLY GOT A RESPONSE BY EMAIL FROM TONY MONACO HERE'S WHAT HAPPENED:
I try to remember as many people as possible. The more you call or email requests in the more I remember a person. People forget that I don't call the shots. I have a music department and a programming department that hates freestyle and would like to bump it off the air because they just don't understand. When they look at charts they don't see any freestyle music selling therefore they always question whether we should play it anymore but I just keep fighting. As playing BSB or J Lo I only play those remixes when there is a special promotion going on it's not as if they are featured every week. I also play many classics. remember a classic is a time-honoured "HIT" that was popular and has with stood the test of time. Keep in mind that something might have been big in New York or Miami or San Fran but nobody knows it here and vice-versa look at how many euro tracks have been popular here in Toronto yet nobody knows them anywhere else. ask someone in N.Y. about koko - open your eyes or Mondano - feeling good or unlimited natation - move your body and they say "what????" I encourage feedback and criticism is good but also remember there are many factors and I'm not play to a banquet hall in woodbridg I'm servicing an audience in a time slot that must attract atleast 30 000 listeners every 15 minutes and to a weekly audience of 600 000 people.
Please understand how radio works!!!
Tony Monaco
P.S. - send a list of songs that you think should be featured also i can't play a song that has been serviced. if an artist doesn't care about sending a song how can the station!!!!
THEN I GAVE HIM A LIST:
I could send you a list a mile long but that won't help you out, you have to problem with canadian artists, well chris and alexia phillips (anything by them)
ffwd - baby don't go
free system - any of there songs
law - missing your love
lil johanna - original of real love
noel - like a child/silent morning (which i havn't hear in a while)/the question
officer & elios - baby give me all your love
rockell - tears
stephanie marano - symphony of love
stevie B - 4u or some of the other songs other then spring love/ party your body or funky melody (he does have like 100 songs)
vienna - i should have known
irene - only in a dream
intonation - in my life
george lamond - without you 99 remix or original
emanual - anything (canadian as well)
there is also a bunch of remix's of don't stop the rock proboly one of the most popular songs
dimi -only one
Anthony Norris feat. Jasmine Bader - JUST 4 YOU
as you can see i can go on so i will stop there. The reason i asked if you remembered me was becuse you gave me some names for an all age event i did Febuary of last year, thanks for the names but i didn't use them i went with Andy A. these are just a few names that i just tossed out but there are a million freestyle songs and not just the old school hard core songs have to be played just some variety ie a diffrent old school track everyweek or something or pump it or dump it sort of thing. Thanks alot, a freestyle fan that's not Italian and doesn't live in Woodbridge. And i understand that Radio is a business and you have to survive and do well as a business and yourself personelly.
TO WHICH HE RESPONDED:
with the exception of vienna and melody everyone of these songs get featured. do you listen every week or do you just pop in here and there. we feature a variety of artists but in radio we have something called "core artists" these are mandatory artists that must be played. My problem is not with canadian artists, my problem is with good canadian and quality canadian artists. of course we play Alexia Philips. You're not understanding our battle here. it stems from management. if the powers that be don't hear the core artists and the big names they don't want to hear it. Remember it's a one hour show and we must drop the bombs and have no time for fillers or average songs. They have to be top notch inorder to compell not just freestyle fans but to entice and intrique all listeners to tune in and listen longer. You're being biased and you are not seeing the picture. They're are all kinds all so called true freestyle shows on the internet. We are not a campus radio station we are a 38 000 watt radio station that caters to 600 000 and our goal is to get to 750 000. We can't do that playing unknown songs. Again i ask you to understand what I have to deal with. If you feel that more freestyle should be featured during the week or an extension of the show then state your comments and intelligent concerns to our programming and music department. I'm not management and I don't call the shots or make the rules. I thank you for your time.

SO LETS ALL SEND THE PROGRAMMING DEPARTMENT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENDS
