Ok Guys...
Im Gonna Speak About Something That Maybe Im Not Alone On.

Do You Guys Think That Maybe Freestyle Was So Ahead Of it's Time In It's Lyrics,Production And It's Edits,That It Can't Grow Anymore?
I Mean,If You Think About It...You Can Take A Song From 87 (Preferbly Crying Over You By: Soave) And Still Pump It To This Day And Still Make People's Head Turn. Whether They Are Young Kids Or Older People,They Still Like It.
You Take Some 80's Wave Or Pop Or Rock And Pump It? Ur Getting Bottles Thrown At U From Every Direction.

It's Like This.....Look At HipHop...Back Then And Now....It Evolved So Much And It Can't Possibly Change Anymore.
But It Still Changed Alot from The 80's And Now.

Rock...Has Changed Dramatically...Even Borrowing From HipHop To Keep It Going.

Pop...Has Changed In The Sense of It's BPM(Beats Per Minute) And Gotten Alot Faster And Even Doing Edits That Freestyle Was Doing Back In The Day. (Example...NSYNC)

Freestyle...Started So Good And With Hard Ass Beats That Can Still Be Pumped To This Day....But Alot of new Skool Has Been Sped Up Dramatically(For What Reason I Dont Know) But It Has Gotten Less Creative. It Hasn't Grown Ya Know? It Got More Simplier.

How Can Freestyle Change To Get Bigger In Creativity?
Thats The Question.

I agree 100% and have ALWAYS thought that. There is NO question in my mind that freestyle was definately ahead of it's time which did end up causing it a bit of a problem. I think what you said is as true as can be. It's about time you said something that makes sense!!!!!!!! 😱 haha, just kiddin bro! 😀

Wow, thats very interesting Elear...Thats a good question, I just aint got the answer...lol..anyone?

Hey......... Elear!

About Freestyle critics......when they criticize freestyle, weather they realise it themselves or not, they are finding faults within the songwriting and melodic structure of the music. I dont think they are specifically talking about the music tracks in it self even though they may think so.. You are right....freestyle was musically way ahead in its time but dont forget at the time it also had some great songwriters and the chord progressions they were coming up with were fairly fresh to the genre at the time. Now a days the same ol chord progressions are being recycled over and over and over again and the songwriting took a dive.. it's taken a steep decline in quality, even the hooks cannot compare! Being ahead of its time musically then is not enough today to bring it back to the top. SOOOOOO to get to the point, there has been this HUGE misconception about how freestyle needs to catch up to the rest of the dance world in BPM's to even be compatible in the market. I feel that thats one of the factors that has brought freestyle down, not because of the tempo factor, theres nothing wrong with a faster tempo but because too many are worrying more about keeping up with the rest of the dance world instead of worrying about the quality of the songs. More experimenting with chord progressions to come up with fresh ones and real songwriting with some real melodies and hooks will do alot of justice to freestyle. I see it like this... A musical track is just that a musical track no matter what style or tempo..music fads come and go, but an outstanding song with a melody and hook that you cant forget will always stand on its own, no matter what style of music is behind it! and if its one that represents freestyle even better! That Tempo factor thing should be left for the re-mixers...just like what they do in R&b, you dont see them cracking there heads over it and its a genre that has crossed over to many other genres in the main stream .

Take for example ..Debra Cox, Amber

yo wassup everybody!

Elear man, you're right on tha money kidd!!! i feel the same exact way. freestyle was sooooooo ahead of its time! i like a lotta old school stuff and i listen to some songs and it's like if it were to come out today in 2001, it could be a bigger hit than it was in '88! LOL! i think with each generation bringing minor changes to the sound is kewl as long as it keeps that raw street edge. a nyce love song over a hard hittin bass beat, who can resist that!!!

peace out,
Mark
