FRANKIE "HOLLYWOOD" RODRIGUEZ IS BACK ON THE AIR HERE. THE FORMER B96 OVERNIGHT AND MORNING JOCK IS NOW HOSTING A SATURDAY AFTERNOON SHOW ON WCKG 105.9 F.M. FROM 10 a.m. TIL 3 p.m. THOSE OF YOU OLD SKOOLERS WILL REMEMBER HIM FROM NOT ONLY HIS B96 DAYZ, BUT FROM WAY BACK IN THE DAY WHEN HE STARTED AS A MIXER ON WGCI 107.5 F.M. IN 1981 FOR MANY YEARS. HE NOT ONLY MIXED BUT WAS A WELL ESTABLISHED AND RESPECTED PRODUCER AND REMIXER IN CHICAGO'S HOUSE MUSIC MOVEMENT DURING THAT TIME AND DID SEVERAL PROJECTS THROUGHOUT THOSE YEARS AT THE LEGENDARY CHICAGO HOUSE LABEL D.J. INTERNATIONAL RECORDS.

HE MOST RECENTLY HAD BEEN THE STATION P.D. AND MORNING PERSONALITY AT WBCD F.M. IN DOTHAN ALABAMA.

HIS OVERNIGHT SHIFT AT B96 BACK IN THE DAY WAS A GROUNDBRAKING SHOW IN WHICH HE DID LIVE INTERVIEWS EITHER IN STUDIO OR VIA TELEPHONE WITH NEW/ESTABLISHED ARTISTS FROM ALL OVER AS WELL AS BREAKING THEIR NEW MATERIAL. IN ADDITION TO HIS HOUSE ROOTS, HE WAS ALWAYS ASSISTING FREESTYLE ARTISTS AND THEIR TRAX IN GETTING AIRPLAY AND FEEDBACK ON B96 AND WAS PIVITOL IN GETTING FREESTYLE PLAYED IN THEIR REGULAR ROTATION THRU HIS SHOW.

yes harv you are correct....ahhhhh, the 'ol club huh?? us EYEtalianz called it "da 1-2-tree" though, but hey...we got there just the same, lol 🙂 just imagine all us italian dudes sitting around and asking eachother..."hey, we goin' to da tree or what?" and we all knew what time it wuz!!

well, if he is paying his own way....god love the dude...maybe we can hope he hoox up with b96 again or julian brings him to 103.5 kiss f.m. to spin for him....that would be great!!

Look up the DJ International tune that he did with Linda Rice. He shot the video on Chicago's "L" train and CTA platforms.

Mario...did you hang out with Frankie in his "Oriental" fashion tribute days? I'm talking Thirteen Colonies, Nancy's, what was the Club with the Merry Go Round theme...in Schaumburg...the Odeum...

We all will have to help Frankie with this venture. If he is buying his own time, he'll need listeners and callers to brag about when he is recruiting advertisers.

I wonder what kind of format he is going to play. Did he ever spin at WBMX, 102.7 FM, Oak Park ? I remember him from B96 of course. I always wondered what he was doing nowadays. When do they spin house on 103.5FM? Whenever I listen to the time slot, they are alwasy spinnin rap, which is typical of Chicago now. Everything you hear ont he radio is rap.

Hey Mario and Harv, you guys ever listen to 103.1 FM? The spanish broadcasting bought out the radio station back in the day when I was with a freestyle radio show, in '95 and '96. They have some good dance music in spanish, like Proyecto Uno.
 
Greg, I haven't listened to 103.1 yet, but it's nice to hear about an option. When WLXX "La Tropical" went off of the air, I thought that we had lost the last hope for Chicago's Latin music fans.

I'll have to give it a listen. I haven't listened to Frankie yet, but maybe someone has and can clue us in as to what he plays on Saturday. His timeslot is the same time that I spend with the "Club Kids".

hey 103.1 viva and 1200am is the sister station of 105.9 latinomix in newyork they are own by Hispanic broadcasting!! HEy Harv any ideas?
