For those who were into it from the mid 80s..

Yo Johnny & Jason, I have 4 questions for you:Who Is Elvis?
Who Killed JFK? Where Is Pippy? Where Is God?

Also, is "Jame Brown Dead" or "James Brown Is Still Alive"? These questions haunt me, but one thing I know for sure, besides me being the one & only "Dominator" & "The Creator" of Techno..............This Is Mutha F*cker!
PEACE!

I can honestly say that I never stepped off from Freestyle. As far as being a DeeJay, I mixxed all types of music: Freestyle, House, Hip House, Techno, Disco. As far as what I listened to over the years, I've been listening to Freestyle, House, Hip House, Techno, Death Metal to Heavy Metal, Corridos, Cumbia, Merengue, Bachata, Salsa, Disco & Gospel. As far as what I listen to today I still listen to all the music I previously listed. The funny part about this, is that when I am on Club Freestyle, I listen to Korn or Papa Roach. When I am in my ride, I listen to HouseThrob (House with Freestyle). I constantly mixx Freestyle so when I ain't mixxing it I pretty much ain't listening to it.

We all acquire different tastes over time, but I've ALWAYS been a hardcore club/dance/freestyle fan. I have NEVER strayed from 'the style' ...

However, I do like ALL types of Dance Music -- the 'hip house' from the early 90s was very good, and we all got caught up in the hi-nrg/euro/techno sound as well -- most of it was very enjoyable, because it HAD FREESTYLE ELEMENTS TO IT !!

But, there's NOTHING like finding an old tape with classic club jams from the mid to late 80s and remembering where it ALL began !!!

I REMEMBER ON ONE PARTICULAR NIGHT, WDRE (WLIR) USED TO DECICATE OF THIER NIGHTS TO TECHNO. I REMEMBER ONE TECHNO SONG THAT WENT TO THE BEAT OF "THE ODD COUPLE".

"IM BIGGER AND BOLDER AND ROUGHER AND TOUGHER AND IN OTHER WORDS SUCKER THERE IS NO OTHER"

Kenny..how can you say "Ofurtuno" was rare. It was one of the most popular techno songs ever !!!!

Make ya dance......i got those jams....how about "Michael Jackson is gay" ??

I have been a devoted fan of Freestyle through the years. When house music took over I was mad, when techno took over I was pissed, when Euro house came about I was content, when trip-hop/freestyle hit the mainstream I was happy, now breakbeat/freestyle is happening as well as Trance and disco house so I am content. Just hope something hits the top 40 that is freestyle in nature like Sonique.

Strayed alittle!

I was into freestyle since the mid-80's cuz my kids were listening to it! I took them to old school rap concerts when Philly had The Spectrum instead of the now new Corestates. I don't remember any freestyle acts booked there, so for that we went to the Q102 shows at the ECentre in Camden, N.J. It was then that I found out that we missed ALOT of freestyle shows there!

The advertising for shows is POOR in this area. It's almost like you find out by word of mouth. So there's alot of freestyle artists that I missed seeing at the Q102 shows, and now it looks like they've stopped booking them. They need to do a REUNION SHOW and bring them ALL BACK!!

So, I saw alot of R&B/old school rap artists cuz my girls were into that scene too! We evevn saw Bobby Brown, Bell, Biv, Devoe, with the New Edition Reunion Tour! We were right at the front of the stage when Bobby mooned the audience! The show was AWESOME!! I got to see Expose when a small music festival in our town booked them when they first came out.

So, I've stayed true to Freestyle, but I found more R&B/old school rap shows to go to. Did anyone get to see Tupac while he was still with us? My freestylin' daughter loves his music!!

Technoheads

I forgot to mention that I was also heavily into R&B slow jams between 96-98. All the new CDs I was buying were Slow Jams: Dru Hill, KCi & Jojo, etc.

There are a lot of former Techno-heads here. Hmmm. Can you imagine us 5 years from now in a ClubTechno forum! We'd be all saying stuff like, "Why don't they play more Techno on the radio" and having arguments like New School Techno vs. Old School Techno. LOL! Hey. it's a cycle.

(We all know that most Techno has the same one or two words repeated over and over again, making the title easy to figure out.) Can anyone identify the Techno songs from the following lines?

"You were wonderful. Hahahaha!"
"Hamamama mama mama wooo!"
"Let's hear it!"
"Okay. This is not over yet."
"I'm ready, we're ready, I think we're gonna...overdose"

Have been in it since the beginning, since it died down and now rising again...

Ouiiii! Those days when all my brothers/sisters tried to sing and make beats while listening to Tina B, Expose, C-Bank, Sa-Fire & the Latin Rascals.

OLD SCHOOL will never be topped.....

Freestyle is ETERNAL and I am the INFINIT1, son......
