.
Now, if my information is correct, you guys all used to live together right?
Yes we did. In the beginning of the album, when we were creating “Together Forever”. Actually, “Together Forever” wasn’t even meant to be for me. It was written for someone else. A guy actually. And I was the one who demo’d it. I put the demo down and sang the song so the guy could listen to it and practice it. But as soon as I sang the song, I knew it had to be mine. Carlos and I had worked together for years before that looking for that one song. And “Together Forever” was the song. Little did we know it was written for someone else. But it was destined to be mine. And after that, we just continued off of the success of the first single. I wasn’t even signed for an album. I was only signed or a single. But after the single took off, we were signed to do an album. So Frank, Carlos, and I lived together in a small studio apartment for 6 or 7 months just creating an album. So that’s the story right there. It’s just a great feeling to see and hear that Frank is doing so well. I still see him today. We still talk. He comes over sometimes for little parties I have at home. I’m still great friends with Carlos. He’s doing his thing. Everybody’s ventured out and tried something new. Basically, I stuck to my music because that’s my passion. I do want to branch out and do other things but that’s my first love. So I can’t abandon it.
Lisette is being very polite because she’s not naming names but she wants to say that “Together Forever” was originally written for Crazy Legs from the Rock Steady Crew.
Okay so originally, I don’t know if you have a lot of info on me, but when I first started out I didn’t know anyone in the business. And back in the day, we came from the Break Dancing / Rock Steady era. Those were some Hip Hop dancers out in the streets and I grew up with them. So I ran into Crazy Legs one night at a club while I was watching another Freestyle singer by the name of Nayobe. So we started talking for a while and I expressed to him that I wanted to be up there on stage and be the one singing. And he told me that he also wanted to sing. And we became a boy / girl group that never went anywhere. While all of this was going on, he introduced me to a songwriter named Tomax who had written a song called “Make Noise”. That ended up being my first record which was totally an “underground” record. It didn’t really cross over to radio. And through that, Tomax introduced me to Carlos. And the rest is history.
