Labetty, I just have to say that your puppy will get adjusted. The first night or two is hard for him because he is in a new environment that is strange to him. But he will get used to it. But do get him his own little bed...this way he has his own space and he wont get used to sleeping in your daughter's bed. And I do agree with Sonya...dont even start him in the habit of giving him table food...because then he will never want to eat his own dog food! We go through the same thing that Sonya does....my dog only wants our food! Its true though..you guys will have a lot of fun with him! I have my dog for 4 yrs and there isnt a day that goes by that I dont enjoy her!

Thank you Sonya and Randi for the advice. It's so true. I remember my rottie used to whine and I was just persistent and she got used to it. Right now my daughter has him on her lap because when she tried to put him back in the box he didn't want to stay there.
 
Have you taken the puppy to the vet...it's recomended you take the puppy to the vet within the first 3 days of getting it 🙂
 
OH yeah and you got a breed that needs constant grooming...have fun with that...I know I do :rolleyes

Tell me about it. My daughter doesn't want the hair to get that long either. So we will be haven't consistent grooming appts.
 
Those grooming appts get expensive...tell your daughter to brush his hair out everyday and clean the build up around his eyes...otherwise the tangles turn into mats and it's painful for the dog

Yeah those mats hurt. When we had a bichon frise, she got lazy with him and never wanted to comb him. She says she'll keep up with him. He's much more tiny than a bichon too.
 
My matese gets groomed about every 5, 6 weeks because we dont want her to have long hair so we keep her in a puppy cut, Also, a puppy cut keeps them always looking little 🙂 You should definitely comb him so he doesnt get knots!

Thats true..Mine sleeps in the bed everynight with me. He's become so spoiled that if he's not on the bed with me when i fall asleep...he'll wake me up so i can pick him up and put him on the bed ...then when he wants to get down he wakes me up to put him on the floor. LOL

OMG that is too funny! But my daughter doesn't mind the puppy being on her bed. I DO! It's bad enough I have to share the bed with my husband. :lol Imagine a dog?! NO way! I'm greedy when it comes to my bed.
 
LMFAOOO my mom doesn't even let us bring the dog upstairs...he sleeps either in his bed or cage
 
Well I went shopping with my daughter to buy a fold and crate, Eukanuba, a red collar, a brush, toys and wee wee pads. 🙂 Costly.


Oh and we went to the vet and got a clean bill of health. 😀
 
Congratulations LaBetty! And buy the bed - the dog will love it, and it will be nice and comfy. I say DO NOT allow the dog on the bed because

A) The bed will end up COVERED in dog hair. Try getting all of that hair off the sheets and bedding....IMPOSSIBLE.

B) If the dog has an accident the mattress will be RUINED. You cannot get pee completely out of a mattress (I mean you can't throw it in the washing machine) and one thing you should know about a dog - when they pee they are marking their territory and if the dog should pee on the bed he will always be able to smell a trace of his marking and it will definitely be peed on again!!!

So true Damian. Well I already told my daughter the "law". The puppy sleeps in his crate. Not the bed.
 
Great to know he's all healthy...get him vacinated and get him the heart worm and flea medication to avoid headaches later 🙂

:wave Sonya. 🙂 The vet gave me an appt for May 11th for a booster shot. Toby's a hyper little puppy too. And the vet said he can only play for 15 min. a day. He should be kept in a crate to sleep most of the time.
