I just wanted to remind you guys about the Filipino artists that have been promoting Freestyle throughout the years.

Although we haven't heard much from these artists lately, we can't forget the impact that they have caused on the scene:

no, I didn't forget Buffy. She's up there. While One Voice, Innerlude and Kai are Filipino, they don't actually focus on Freestyle music. Their albums consist mostly of R&B. Thanks for thinking of them anyway.

Thanks for putting up the tribute to pino/pina freestylers! I'm a very proud filipino to find a reputable contribution to freestyle music by the people of our same nationality! Good luck with your career and keep us posted here. I'll be sure to follow or at least try to find you on your journey! It's kindda tough to find any asian freestyle content up here in Canada. I had to go to the States to get my copy of Buffy and the other artists (with the exception of Jocelyn Enriquez) I have never even seen their CD's or material out here in Canada (Toronto). How do I find the record labels to these artists? If you can give me a hand...I'd appreciate it a lot! (once I find their labels then I'll make an order for the entire CD)

yall forgot one person and that's JAYA. she basically opened up the door, and bascially for another Filipino artist...that would be Jocelyn Enriquez. Jocelyn was singing "if you leave me now" and that's how she was discovered by Glenn Gutierrez. After Jocelyn came out many other Filipinos/Asians started making way!

I am also an aspiring Filipino songwriter (aspiring since I was in Junior HIgh) but nothing ever came about it. Hopefully when I free up more time, I can go back to it. Good luck with your endeavors.

Lex: That's pretty neat history on Jocelyn. You know I saw Jaya's mom do standup one time. (Half of it was in Filipino.) She's a comedianne--hillarious!

Thanks. You're right! Let's not forget about the producers in the industry that are contributing to Freestyle.

The only one that I knew of was Dadgel Atabay (songwriter/producer of Stevie B. and Buffy)

but now Slammin' Sam
(producer of the S Factor)

before I could even check out Rachael Lampa's site... I saw a video of her on TV. I loved it. The song, her voice... you're right.. She definitely has that Mariah Carey type voice. I learned that she does Christian/Pop music. That's cool. Thanks again for the info!

J.J Flores is also filipino known for his amazing works of Dzyre " Forever Amor and Games OF Love . He also produce the house track called "PUTANG INA MO" taken from the 20 Fingers compilation

TROY GUY is part filipino the lead male vocals of Dzyre

NIA PEEPLES the host of the party MACHINE back in the 90's and had 2 freestyle /pop single called " TROUBLE" and "I Know How You Make You LOVe Me" is also part Filipino.

ENRIQUE IGELESIA is also half filipino ( BUT NON FREESTYLE)

JOLEEN another bay area artist with her hot songs " FANTASY BOY" " MISSING YOU" I think that was the title??

AND OF COURSE OUR BEST MIXTURE/ Producer/REMIXURE SLAMMIN SAM from CALI.

On VELOCITy records owned by FRANCISCO released 2 successfull artist ( THE SMOOTH VOCALS OF BUFFY with her smash single " GIVE ME A REASON " "NO ONE and 2 FIND U, and the beautiful model and single KIM DEL FIERRO " WANT ME" produced by another great filipino producer " DAGEL ATABAY " also has work with STEVIE B 's early singles.

ANOTHER NON FREESTYLE PERSON.. TIA CARERRA a movie stars is also part Filipina.

BUT I THINK JAYA " IF YOU LEAVE ME NOW" HOOKED ON YOUR LOVE" really open the doors to the filipinos artist and also grown over the the years.

ANOTHER SUCCESS LATINIA/FILIPINA Artist Michelle DIAZ, she is like Lil suzy, she stared single at the young age with her single " BY YOUR SIDE " I WON"T CRY FOR YOU".

One thing I would like to see in freestyle is a Filipino freestyle son, in full lyrics in tagalog. CAUSE FILIPINO IS MIX WITH SPANISH WORDS SO YOU LATINOS CAN UNDERSTAND A BIT.
