I came accross a thread today and it bugged me out on how loosely people use words so I decided on asking a question to see what responces I got so here goes. What does supporting an artist mean to you, when you say I am so and so's biggest supporters or one of many supporters, or I support so and so what do you mean. It is a part time thing where you only follow there career to a certain extent, to the extent of where they remain in one genre. I ask because over and over I see people post threads saying I have always supported ____ or I am one of _____ biggest supporters and then the minute the artist trys or attempts to try something new here come out so called fans true colors. So please explain to cuz on the real I need to know cause I know that when I say I will always support Nyasia,Safire, Sam Savon, Sebastian, Nick Colon, Manny, TKA etc etc I mean no matter what genre they choose to play in I will still buy there music if I have followed there careers since there inceptions I am going to see it all the way through that to me is supporting an artist, to understand that artist need to grow and have the balls to put there blessed vocals to something new shit I support that more then submitting to the same s*** over and over again. Why should one specific genre be the only one to be lucky enough to hear what these great artist sound like. it is funny cuz if you think about it Freestyle isn't the only genre a lot of us listen too I myself listen to R&B, Hip-Hop,alternative, etc so how do I look telling an artist they should stick to one thing. What is everyone crazy enough to think artist just listen to there own genre if that were the case we wouldnt have a lot of the great collabos we have had done. So I ask again please break it down for a sister what does supporting an artist mean to you.

Actually it's not tough for me to answer...Supporting an artist means being there as a fan throughout whatever it is they try/accomplish. Whether it be freestyle or country! Bout the only thing I wouldn't support is opera! LMAO! Only cuz I don't understand it! :crap Just kidding! I'd still support them even then, but I'd most likely pray that they wouldn't ever do it again! :lol

now you will here some people say how if they are fans of freestyle they expect the artists to stick to freestyle, which doesn't exactly make them fans of the artist as much as fans of the music, which many seem to confuse. Be happy for the artists if they choose to go another route, which will make them happy and make them money.

If you a Fan of a certain artist, I belive you should support them regardless of what genre. It was there talent that made you a fan in the first place.

If the Artist has a song your not rally into well, take the good with the bad. If you choose to stop supporting an artist because you don't like a new sound or a certain song, well then your really not a fan of the artist, just of the style and type of song.. you really can't call yourself an artist supporter under those circumstances.😉

Supporting an artist varies from person to person. I feel supporting an artist, person takes their work and incoorperating it into their own personal lives. To hear their music (one song or 1000's of songs) and feel a certain connection is a pure support. It starts from there, and goes to buying their music, going to concerts, sharing stories and self promoting these artists. And artists you support and the music you love will never get old, it is always fresh and vibrant everytimes it is played. =)

To be honest with you, I've supported only those that have had a positive impact on me. And there ain't to many artist's out there that give me that feeling and rush when I listen to their music. No matter how outdated it may be, or what type of musical direction they're going for, I can listen to it day in and day out.

In my opinion, supporting an artist is buying their music and being a fan of theirs no matter what genre of music they choose to go into. For instance, I am a huge fan of George LaMond..so I own all of his freestyle albums as well as his salsa albums. I love TKA...so I bought their Forever cd even though it might not have been a freestyle album...and I still listen to it, to this day. And to enjoy the work of these artists no matter what style of music they are singing but because of their voices, makes me feel like a supporter.

requesting thier music on the radio

going to their shows

talking positively about the artist/music
