For a few weeks, Backdrafts was having Freestyle karaoke nights.
It wasn't legit karaoke, where the singer is missing and you watch a tv. They played a record/cd and gave you a mic, and you sang along to the record, as long as you knew the words.
The first week, I sang Noel's "Silent Morning" and the following week, they had a contest with a cell phone for first place.
Oh my God, I sang a Freestyle song at a karaoke bar once and I totally regret it.
I mean, I did a great job of singing the song, but no way in hell am I ever going to sing "Show Me" by the Cover Girls, in a predominantly white, plaid-shirt-jeans-wearing bar! I felt like the only idiot; I was so waiting for the song to end.
I think I was excited about the fact that there even was a Freestyle song, so I wanted to sing it. Hey, it was the only one.
