I have always and currently NEVER bought a Tony Monaco produced cd in my collection. I prefer to get my cheese at Colangelo's supermarket. Thank you!

The frEaK 🙂

I'm sorry that you don't like the CDS that Tony puts out. But I personally do!
But for every one person who dosen't like the cd there are 2 people who do, thats what keeps tony coming back so strong with another cd because its what the people want.
You must be eating some pretty good cheese!!!! :smirk

Do you own any of his CDs??? Do you have any CDs????

I have almost all of the cds Tony put out going back years. Some are amazing like "Freestyle Heaven 4" and "Euro Mix 6 and 7" others are horrible like "Freestyle Heaven 5" and "Euro Mix 5".
TanyaT everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Where do you gets those stats from; "for every one person who dosen't like the cd there are 2 people who do", tell me where you got this figure from because it's impossible. If that were the case Tony would be out selling artists like Madonna and Christina because do you know how many people don't like dance/freestyle/euro or 103 for that matter?
Before you talk make sure you get your figures straight cuz if you can't back it up then don't say it.

As for the cd it's not one of his best, it's not one of the worst. It has some pretty decent songs on it. Most are pretty easy to find. But it's kool having them all on one cd. I look at this as one of the better cds that Tony put out.

You did say everyone has a right to their own opinion right?????? Well I was stating mine! Do you have that much time on your hands that you sit at home and figure out math problems??? Would you like me to make a pie chart for you?
If you actually read what I wrote you would read that I was sorry that he didn't like it but I DID! Did I ever in my post say that it was the best CD he made????? no didn't think so. I really don't know who's post you are reading cause i don't think its mine!
....yes, everyone I know that bought or listened to the CD loves it..
When I was saying that "for everyone person who dosen't like Tony's cds there are 2 people who do" I obviously wasn't referring to people who don't listen to dance/euro or 103!!! That is just common sense or do you need me to make a chart for that too? Tony's cd's outsell all dance/euro/freestyle comp cds in Canada so therefore people like them! It sounds like you are fishing for a fight with someone and I guess its me but I have no clue why...so have your fun!

"Tony's cd's outsell all dance/euro/freestyle comp cds in Canada so therefore people like them!"

Sorry tanya, that statement is incorrect: Especially outside of the GTA, Tony's cds for the most part are the least selling cds in Canada under the SPG Music banner. In recent years and as of late, aside from the Muchmusic branded discs that get continious year round promotion, the best selling dance compilations are by MC Mario series under the Sony Music Canada banner.

Hey Tanya, I wasn't here "trying to pick a fight" as you say. I am here stating the obvious. Yeah I bet you weren't aware that across Canada SPG don't sell much in comparison to others. And wuts this about making a pie chart. Do you want me to make you a bar graph showing you how much SPG sell across Canada in comparison do other labels. Yeah I guess I have a lot of time on my hands especially since I pop into this site ever few months. I don't pop in more cuz of people like you. I hate people who are always pushing SPG, Monaco and 103 products down everyone's throats Great all the people you know like the cd, ll the people I know have different opinions on the cd. Yeah and well about your "figure" only being directed at those who listen to dance music "obviously", well state that next time. Over the internet there is a big opportunity to mis-interpret. But hey wutever, to each there own.

Everyone has their own opinion...and if you are going to come up here stating something like a cd label is the best selling in Canada when it comes to dance...please be sure that it's factual because SPG is only big here in the GTA

Personally I think the best dance compilation CDs are from Robbins. I was in HMV recently (in Boston) and heard the new "Dance Party... Like it's 2004" and it sounded pretty good, but I had just bought the Freeze CD and a few other CDs so I didn't want to plunk down $17 on it.

P.S Tanya T, what the heL* is the last tune you put out other than "freestyle lifestyle" and anything else under the name of "Mystie"??!

Why are you attacking me as a person and an artist?? When's the last tune you put out?? What does that have to do with anything??? Just because you have a problem with me supporting Tony and his cds, it dosen't mean you have to attack me personally! Have you ever thought that maybe people do other things in their life?? I guess not! I really don't need to explain anything to you. I just think that that was a pathetic response. And just to clarify the name change...sometimes you work with different people with different projects and changing names is a legal issue but I'm sure you knew that already.
And if you know so much about me then you would know that I am not a confrontational person I just defend people when it needs to be done.

and Kaylo, when in my post did I ever refer to a record label? I never said anything about SBG. If you really paid attention you would know that Tony works with other labels too. So don't put words in my post.

You guys make me laugh because I came on the post to defend one of the longest supporters of dance/euro and freestyle in Toronto and you have to attack me! You tend to hate Tony and anything he has to do with (like 103) But yet, if it wasn't for Tony and 103 this music would have died with the other stations that pushed it! Have you ever thought about that?? So why not stop being haters and just appreciate music any which way it comes. Dosen't it only matter that we have it!!

ok guys please calm down 🙁

no personal attacks FREAK... watch what you write...

holy jumping! merrry christmas and happy holidays! thanks to those that support the cd's that I compile and present. my cd's are only as good as the productions that are released at a given time. Sometimes they are great! sometimes they are awesome! and sometime unbelievable! and you always always find somebody that doesn't like what we put out. everybody has the right to voice their opnion. I'm proud to be associated with an independant label like SPG who can put out cds like summer rush and italo euro hits and euro mix and still move product in toronto and in ontario where others can't. No need to slag me or my repesentation and for the record I still challenge you to go that same street corner and ask a person to identify who nyasia is and what she sings.(lol) The dance music game is so small to begin with do we really need to spend hours on websites and chat rooms slagging artists and dj's and mc's. There is tons of product that i don't lisence or even like or approve of but i don't bash on this site or my own. greatness always rises to the top. I do what I can to keep dance alive whether it be euro or freestyle. I've been in the business for 20 years and 15 on air and I've always welcomed anybody to provide an alternative to what I do and what I have done.
I have 30 plus branded MONACO CDS and I've worked on 7 comps this past year alone and consultanted on others that don't even bare my name and stand by what I do. Again thanks to those that support what I do and i hold no hatred towards those that don't believe in me and my branded products. We all have choices and freedoms to do as we please.

It is unfortunate that we noted what seems to be a very apparent lack of support for "the return of planet freestyle" release from Odeon. This is one cd where the production, vocals and track quality is flawless and the team had produced evident and highly visible "street fighting" marketing efforts to raise awareness.

I didn't want to join in, but I have some things to say....

I've seen this a million times, people complain about the radio station, this cd, that cd, cut up artists, cut up the freestyle show (may I note, it's the only one that held on to it's spot, and the only one of it's kind in Toronto)

But what would happen to a dance fan, if there was no dance station? If there were no more dance comps and you couldn't even find your fave song online?
We take for granted the things we do have, because not all cities and countries have a dance outlet to turn to.

Everyone is free to state their opinion. It's just sad when you start attacking each other.

In My Opinion, Tanya should have been answered as a PERSON and not as an ARTIST. I didn't read about her saying that she recorded songs, She is starting a family now, just bought a house and has a husband. Maybe freestyle isn't where her life is taking her right now. (Some of us would be happy to have what she has) Judge her for her comments, if you don't know her personally...don't judge her on her music ventures, that was a low blow.

Oh, and as for Tony and Planet Freestyle, he has to answer to higher powers at the radio station, so how would you know if he supported the cd or not? I heard him play tracks from the CD.
(BTW, Off Topic My Fave was the Kathy Phillips track In And Out, and I heard it first on his show)

Like honestly, who cares how many cd's SPG sells anyways?(I should be the only one, cuz i get paid for the sales...Oh, And Tony LOL)
The Truth is, freestyle is not selling the copies that it used to, and we can all kill ourselves, but trying too hard will make it worse. It doesn't matter who we put on the CD's, it's all an uphill climb from here.

I know I will get bashed for making my point, but that's alright...it's all good.
When my hard work is done, and I contribute new freestyle artists and my own ORIGINAL tracks next year, maybe some of you will change your mind then.

Stop the fighting, because it's not nice, and Tony had a good point, some of you will like the cd's and some of you won't. Then don't buy them, it's as simple as that.

If you guys have issues, you can always email him personally, and i'm sure he will answer you, just as he posted here.

What a Surprise!

It's been a while since I've posted anything on any of these threads/forums @ CF and I'm pretty sorry that I haven't. It's unfortunate that this thread came to this kind of end and I'm surprised that it had come to the point where peeps had to bash members/artists/peeps in the business of freestyle. I myself have had my quams with the "Z" station. I've got a bud there that has been subject to a few discussions here @ CF. But that's all in the past!

Mr. Monaco: Firstly, I would like to thank you on behalf of the fans that do support you and all of you endeavors. You truly help the dance and especially freestyle sound stay alive in T---Dot! I am PROUD to say that I have a very wide library of you CD Comps and I think that you're doing a great job!
KEEP IT UP!

This thread is beyond "stating your opinion" it came to bashing and PERSONALLY attacking other members. Where were the mods to mediate this thread?
As members, didn't we all agree to respect each other when we signed up to take part in the CF web site? HMMMMMMM?

Tanya T: Your music is great and for those of us that appreciate quality beats you showed us our FREESTYLE LIFESTYLE! Good luck with your family and future endeavors in the music industry...I am anxious to hear new music from you in the future!

Miss. Elissa: I can't wait to hear new music from you as well. As a DJ and fan of freestyle I am happy to see that you keep in touch with your fans like the ones here, dispite all of this negative stuff you see in this thread! You're right, we take for granted the things we have in T.O. such as the music stations, culture and diversity. Many of the persons here are not in the industry neither have they ever ventured as far as you, Mr. Monaco and Tanya T. So many of the members here couldn't possibly fathom how hard it is to write it, record it, press it, and market it! The industry is hard enough on the inside, "opinions" like these don't make your job any easier. What were the peeps here thinking?

I don't post as much as I used to, but lately I've been coming back to check out the canadian forum and a few other forums every now and then. I'm not much of a favorite here, I've bumped heads with many of you in the past. We've all learned from those days (or at least us older guys did). My "opinion" probably doesn't hold as much value since I'm not posting as much. Ya, I don't have a bazillion posts and I don't have all the cool online buddies that I used to....But I'm a fan and I appreciate coming to this website. After this thread, as a member here, I truly hope that the aforementioned atrists and Mr. Monaco will continue to provide the "Spoiled" generation of freestyle critics/fans with more music and more importantly continue to come to CF and keep in touch with their "fans".

Good Luck To All! I'm stepping down from my soapbox now.
I TOO HAVE MADE MISTAKES IN THE PAST...
BUT I KNOW THAT THEY WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN!
KEEP FREESTYLE ALIVE!
DON'T HATE...APPRECIATE!

BTW just to be factual, Spg is not only a Canadian label, they do sell off their comps to other countries around the world, and if it's not a full compilation ie: freestyle heaven, they also license single tracks that they own for the world to other companies such as BMG Italy and so on.

Ya, it's not a major label, but they get by in this industry.

P.S. No Worries Jack, This post wasn't directed to me personally, and even if it was, i'm used to other peoples views by now. I just think that some of the comments started to get off topic. Cool :wave

The way I see it, criticism should be welcomed by everybody. When a radio show seems more concerned with the interests of a specific record label, that falls under something called PAYOLA (not sure if that term exists in Canada). People have a right to expect a wide range of music within the format of a radio station. Sadly, this seems to have died in practice.

I agree we need to support Tony Monaco and Z103.5 for keeping dance music on the air and supporting it, but we should also question the extend of that support. Comments like "my cd's are only as good as the productions that are released at a given time" are pointing fingers and hurting the industry. Monaco, there are many GREAT productions out there, just because they aren't licensed on your comp doesn't mean the industry is dead or it has been a "slow year for freestyle".

The only way to keep FREESTYLE alive is to PLAY the new music and SUPPORT it, even when its NOT released on your affiliated label.
