Well

I had an interesting conversation with a friend of mine. He was a former A&R Rep for Def Jam and a big fan of old school house. He used to spin for WBLS here in NYC back in the day. We were talking and the subject of Freestyle came up. He was telling me of some of the Hot Night events he attended and threw names at me of some very notable Freestyle Icons he has worked with. Now, I asked him what was his opinion of Freestyle. Very positive response, which I knew there would be. So , we started brain stroming and I told him my ideas.

See,

Freestyle Music ain't making a comeback like it was before. It will always be alive, just not reaching the level of success it had in the 80's and early 90's. NOW, that doesn't mean the ELEMENTS of Freestyle can't make a comeback. Feel Me. Trance Music for example. According to some execs that I have met recently, Melodic Trance Music is what freestyle should have evolved too. I want peeps to listen to these tracks and tell me if that is wrong. Not the track itself but the lyrical content and the way it flowed to the music. I don't know about ya'll but it seems to me someone has been listening to Old School Freestyle.

iio "Rapture"
Dito feat Dzenita "Shadows"
Dj Sammy and Yanou "Heaven"
Lasgo "Something"
Dj Encore "I see right through you"
Ian Van Dahl "Will I?"
Dee Dee "Forever"

Now, have an open mind when you listen to the ELEMENTS of these songs. I can't bring Freestyle back, BUT the ELEMENTS yes. All these Pop bands here and in the UK do watered down retreads of what Freestyle was originally. I keep mentioning to the CEO of Bring It Entertainment Elroy Meighan that I would love to start a dance division to our company. Of Course we can't this exact moment with the push of our artists Priceless and Kevin Minitz. However, because he was a former dancer and extreme lover of old school house he's open. I have an extremely talented young woman working with us that I believe will Spearhead this dance division. Now, this is where my problem begins. The music.

I need to come with a good blend of the Freestyle Elements and Mainstream. Now, can I go with the trance, yes. Do I want to, not at first unless I have to. This is where I need peeps here to come at me with their ideas. Am I saying I want Bring It Entertainment to be Mic Mac, no. Do I want to be better than Mic Mac, yes. Only because I feel there is a market that we can tap into to. It motivates me. It also motivates me that these boards bring about many people whose dance knowledge is incredible. There is a think Tank here and it would be great to see what you all have as feedback.

Please, no haters.

I agree with you on the lyrical contents of all those songs, and definitely where freestyle should have gone. These "Dance" artists are singing "freestyle lyric" songs to trance or progressive or whatever you want to call the music.

Good Point there brotha😉

but TRANCE is already established so if FREESTYLE wants a new direction, it will have to start off with a brand new sound (like KAY & TY said, "destroy and rebuild")

Exactly,

this is where we begin Kenny. There are soooo many talented minds here, this is what we should have done a long time ago. We have Producers to create the music, DJ's to Spin the Music and Promoters to begin the buzz for the music, and fans to listen. Nyasia makes the point herself, look at what they are doing with the element. Why can't we. I want to see the second coming. I will see the second coming. I will be at Wild Palm Friday willing to talk to any Producer or Artist on this, seriously. Lets use the resourses we have HERE on CF and get the ball rolling.
