"DON'T YOU WANT ME?" by Collage feat Lil' Suzy

Someone was nice enough to send the song my way (Thank you - you know who you are!). After reading the post by ViperRecords in regards to the song - where it was stated "By the way it is an entirely new production" had sparked my interest because my initial assumption was that it was yet another remake...

WELL I WAS CORRECT!

Viper masked the truth by saying it was an entirely new production because it is. It is not the same recording that was featured on Adam Marano's TOTALLY ASWESOME 80'S compilation a few years ago. Instead, they have created new music for the song and of course, recorded it as a duet between Adam & Suzanne. Musically speaking, it is not bad if you are into the current sounds of the clubs (Trancy, Euro-ish type of sound with a Miami Freestyle type of beat), but it was not right to decieve the fans into thinking that this was an original song when the fact is: IT IS JUST ANOTHER REMAKE!!!

uh oh... i don't like remakes...
i want something new!
but i still wanna hear this song tho... if u say it's got current beats then why not.

Tarp you are correct. And if you had read my post you waould have seen that I acknowledged the fact that is a new production. However, by saying that, I believe they were trying to fool the fans into thinking that it was an original song as well!

I have not heard this version yet and I knew it was a remake...It was understood, at least for me...I was not fooled...Hello? it's Viper!

LMAO

When Viper said "It is an entirely new production" it made to sound like "It is not a remake so go out there and buy it" (Don't worry I didn't buy it, lol)...

i would buy if i can find it . im always late on freestyle a still dont have the new lil suzy track called treat me right and other new stuff from her the last cd i got from her is the greatest hits cd.

well, what do you expect? FREESTYLE has been drained of its resources so there is not much to do with it. if something "entirely new" comes out, 9 times out of 10 it will sound like something that has been previosly released (INSERT PLANET ROCK BEAT HERE). Therefore, "remaking" an old tune with new vocals is whats next. Hey, just be glad the artists arent remaking 60's songs!!!

So, who thinks it's possible to make a new freestyle song without the planet rock beats, recycled sounds, etc? If you do, tell me why it's not happening as often as it should...

I HEARD FROM A COUPLE PEOPLE THAT THE SONG WAS GREAT!! I WANT ITTTTTTTT.. LET ME KNO HOW I CAN GET IT.

MUAHZZZZZ

I think its totally possible. the problem is, when the artists do something new, the fans rip it apart and never give it a chance (NOEL,TKA,JOHNNY O)

Tarp, if it's supposed to be freestyle, isn't that what it should sound like?

Kenny, who asked you??!! LOL j/k Seriously, the artists "take a beating" when the fans get something other than freestyle. I personally don't mind them doing something other than freestyle....as long as it isn't being passed as such. That's fair, no?

remember, the artists didnt lable themselves as "freestyle artists". the fans did.

True..but isn't it the same as Run Dmc being labeled rap artists? We label as we see or hear. You sing mostly or exclusively rap from the get go, you're a rap artist...you sing rock from the get go, you're a rock artist...While it can tie you down (being labeled)...thats just the way it is. It's not the fans fault. Don't become an artist if you dont want a label. Every artist gets a label. Thats how we identify, right? Again though, I have no problem with artists singing other music...but you are remembered for what made you famous..which is something to be proud of...

I will only speak for myself here...I give the new releases a chance and then comment...From my POV most of the releases are not worth listening to. I never posted a comment on the Ford feat. Noel song but I will state for the record that it was not bad at all...

I have the song.. you're not missing anything...
it's the OLD version, w/ additives. you know the song "cheap thrills" that Collage covered on Capter 1..how the vocal were..well picutre a little of that in this "new" version of Don't you want me.
Suzy has sooooo much more talent than what was wasted on this rendition. So does Adam for that matter!!!!

Kenny you never cease to amaze me with your tunnel vision!

Some of the best-written song lyrics of all time were written in the 60’s!!!

And if not for the producer driven, “lets get a pretty face singer”, pop boy bands and girl groups of the late 50’s and early 60’s, R&B, then pop, then dance, then disco, then Freestyle groups would not exist!
