Lumidee is originally a Freestyle artist when she first recorded the song "Never Leave" two years ago, it never got publized correctly, so you would never remember. What the producers did to the song was rip out the vocals to the original song and put it on aonther mix. If you have good tone recognition you can tell that the song is off beat. Because it wasn't the original song. I just wanted to let you guys know.

😱 NICELY SAID HEIDEE..HEY I DO APPRECIATE MOST NU SKOOL ARTIST..IM SURE MOST OF THEM KNOW THE TRUE VIBE OF FREESTYLE..I GUESS THEY'RE JUST TAKIN IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL WITH A DIFFERENT FREESTYLE SOUND..IN MOST CASES..MY OPINION.. 😱 😛

The question I'm asking is do you think the new generation of listners will really know Freestyle in GENERAL if the DJ's and Radio stations keep mixing in Non-Freestyle songs... How long before the mix goes from a Freestyle Mix to Hip/Hop or Rap mix.. if they continue to do it progressively will the new generation even know they are no longer listening to freestyle.

That is the question .. Freestyle is Freestyle new or old.

This question has nothing to do with New or Old Skool.

I'd love to remain tight-lipped and sit out on this one and rather debate it one on one but it's tough. Some people here claim they remember when it exploded....at 11 years old??? I was in high School in the late 80's and I know my Freestyle. I'm not talking about your big names like Johnny O & Cynthia I'm talking about shit that many people here don't even know exists. Underground,behind the scenes, oddball Freestyle jamz I would hear on custom tapes that kicked ass!! Jamz that defined the genre. I think it takes having lived it in order to really understand what it was and is all about. As for as Old and New school it's nice to see some just refer to it as Freestyle which is what I always argue although what people call "New" doesn't qualify as Freestyle!! :blah to all who oppose

Heidee u gotta good pt there. If you weren't there when it was big you probably not gonna get it now.

I'm 23 now, and I was young back then but I still remember hearing freestyle on Hot97 and Z100, or at Astroland, Playland (remember the MusicMania ride that used to always spin freestyle tracks!) or at the Westchester Co. Fair, Sportsime USA, all the crazy/fun spots!

I wasn't able to hit the clubs though. I hear some freestyle every now and then in the clubs now, but I know it's not the same as back in the day. That part of this music (which I know is a pretty big part), I never experienced. And I'm mad about that! lol

But when the '91 new school wave hit, I finally got to dance to it at house parties and school dances. Those records, I have the most memories on. I think my age group was on the tail end of freestyle music. Like our time was the last chance to get it, the last group to feel it.

Even though we couldn't hit the clubs! :mad
