GUYS PREFER BRUNETTES

June 30, 2003 -- Here's a real blond bombshell - it turns out brunettes actually have more fun.
"Gentlemen do not prefer blondes. They prefer brunettes," said Dr. Kelley Kline, who studied sex appeal at Florida State University.
"It's kind of an interesting finding, considering that in our society we concentrate on the blonde - it's so pervasive."
That means stunners like Catherine Zeta-Jones, Courteney Cox and Penelope Cruz have the edge over such beauties as Reese Witherspoon, Kate Hudson and Cameron Diaz.
Kline's findings were based on interviews with 50 men on the appeal of various female facial characteristics or body types.
She and her team also discovered that both guys and gals like long, luscious hair compared to shorter cuts.
"[They] overwhelmingly find the long hair length significantly more attractive than the short and the medium hair length," Kline said.
She said the biological imperative to find a healthy, fertile mate may explain the finding, at least in men.
The findings were revealed at the annual meeting of the American Psychological Society, in Atlanta.
