This is an International OUTRAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was the Dance Music Source!! Now I have to pay $8-10 for British Dance mags like DJ, MixMag:mad
I read the threads on radio-info.com and a lot of people were saying that its a result of internet becoming more widespread and people getting more up-to-date info without having to rely on magazines.
I think DMA had its place and it was definitely better than the british mags. It was nice to get info on the latest and upcoming releases all in one place.
The demise of DMA is very sad for all of us, not only for me as a writer. As a community, we no longer have a print publication to go to for updated dance music news. Sure, there are other magazines out there, but none cover the same aspect of dance music that DMA covered.
Shit! I used to look forward to the Freestyle issue. I have a nice collection of DMA magazines that I've bought from 1994-1998. I remember when Cynthia was on the cover. I have that one. But on a serious note, DMA was my source for music back in the day. Mainly Freestyle and House. It's a shame.
ivan....although this is a blow to us all, you are too talented not to get a call from someone bro!!
this magazine, while doing less freestyle than before was still one of the few well known publications still promoting it at all so although i was not thrilled with the direction it went in as far as freestyle, it still was at least given a page or two for some props out there. it was great when they had their annual freestyle issue where it centered on our music, labels, artists and such...hell, they even gave it the cover back then.
Thanks, Mario. That was very nice of you to say. Francis, we just got the official word last week that the magazine has ceased publication. However, the company as a whole will continue to release the DMA-branded CDs that sold well for them.
