Are there any people interested in streetdance here? Do you use freestyle songs in your dances?

I think freestyle, especially with planet rock rhythm, is perfect for popping. so im popping to freestyle, it really good match. stuff from Classified and Tazmania records is great for popping i think. but not so much for locking, but it might depend on the person. but i also try some hip hop body/footwork moves, and a bit of house steps too. i think the older freestyle tracks from 80s are great for breakin too, though im not a breaker!

Sup Speedtribe.... I'm interested in streetdance....but I seen a couple of youngsters over here in the San Fran bay breakdance to some freestyle tunes but mostly Electro Funk type of dance....I think there are certain freestyle songs that are great for poppin and locking, I was bumping "Jam on it" around the mission district and a group started poppin and lockin, but from my opinion, any beat that is progressive and has that upbeat sound with a lil formula of old school electro is worth b boying too.....and i'm not a B boy neither, but i use to breakdance when i was a lil ass youngster putting it down for the hood! TO me that's what freestyle is all bout.......Fine women, break dancing and cruising......LOL

thanks Unique Freestyle!.. yeh electro funk is usually connected to breakin' etc, though i think electro funk is prefect for popping in particular, thats why when i find any freestyle song with that electro funk influenced rhythm, ie Planet Rock beats, its perfect for popping imo. The Bay Area is one of the great dance origins of America i think, next to NY and LA. Newcleus's Jam On It is a great classic, I also like Computer Age by them. Other excellent in that genre I like, Egyptian Lover/Jamie Jupitor, Cybotron/Model 500, man i think ALL electro funk is dope! And of course the great Curtis Mantronix! there would be no 90s drum&bass and jungle without him..

for that Two Live Crew, Miami and Atlanta Booty Bass sound is great too imo. LOL!

heres a great list of great old school songs for streetdancing!

latin freestyle, hip hop, electro funk, all those groups, it looks was all one united group back then, maybe later did they all separate into their individual scenes..
