As I was digging through some of my personal belongings, I found my scrap book and I pulled out an old article with SA-FIRE by KIDSDAY which can be found in NEWSDAY. Here it goes:

Q. Where did you come up with the name Sa-Fire?
A.After I did an audition, I was sitting in the car with some people from CUTTING RECORDS and they said I had to come up with a name. I said I didnt want to change my name that much. We agreed on SA-FIRE because it matched my personality
Q. What is your real name?
A. Wilma
Q. Why do you think Latin music is getting so popular?
A. It has always been around, but now its getting more recognition. t's getting a lot of radio play. People go wild when they hear Gypsy Kings & other latin groups.
Q. Where did you get your start?
A. I was at a party & I met one of the LATIN RASCALS. His name is ALBERT CABRERA. He told me about an audition I should go for. He is my husband now. We dated for 3 years.
Q. What is your favorite song from your album?
A. "THINKING OF YOU". I dedicated it to my uncle who passed recently.
Q. How has your life changed?
A. Well, I am all over the country. I am taking more plane rides than I ever expected to take. I hate planes. I'm scared of them.I am away from my husband and family all the time. People are trying to do things for me. Some people act silly & they come up to me and they don't know what to say. That makes me nervous.
Q. Would you ever be interested in acting?
A. Yes, but not right now. Just doing my music videos is almost like acting. It's a lot of hard work and I just want to concentrate on my singing.
Q. Do you speak spanish?
A. Si. I even did "THINKING OF YOU" in spanish.
Q. Do you ever tire of singing songs over & over again?
A. No. I am proud & happy with every cut on my album. I love them so much that I like singing them. You get tired of things you really dont care for. But, sometimes I change the songs around.
Q. Who chooses the members of your band?
A. I do. I will have 8 people in my group. The problem I am having is finding back up singers. I did alot of background singing on my album and it is hard finding someone who sounds like me. I want to keep the same sound I have on my album.
Q. Do you think you are a fashion trend setter?
A. I think so. I make a lot of my own clothes. I made the hat & jacket that are on my album cover.
