Radio Personality : WCEV 1450 AM Chicago
Good morning, Clubfreestylers!
It was another interactive Freestyle radio lovefest as I got confirmation of an extended listening audience as San Antonio, Texas; Aurora, Illinois; and Ontario, Canada checked in. Make Ya Dance even invested in a long distance to to personally check in. The others got me at my Hotmail address or posted here at Clubfreestyle.com. Friday mornings have become so much fun as I am getting to virtually "meet" and know such Phanatix as: Freestyle Kitty (who celebrated her ?? birthday), the Talcott School Class of 2001 w/Yvonne and Jennifer, Patti Vasquez, Felix the Cat, Kenny Guido (didn't listen, but posted), Make Ya Dance, Mobile listener Tim, Christian Rojas,Paresh, new listener Ericka (tuned in while scanning, now it's on pre-set),Inocencio, Inocencia, Alex and Laura, Mandy, and IMBlue 519. Now with the proper credits given, here is what happened this past Friday on "Wake Up Dancing" broadcast on WLUW (88.7 FM) in Chicago and webcast on www.wluw.org, or www.shoutcast.com.
At 6:00am, I started off the show with the morning mix at six by Tony "Boom Boom" Badea. That must have started things off on the right musical foot as Freestyle Kitty was motivated to submit the mornings first posting at Clubfreestyle.com. After the mix, I played "The Birthday Song" by Icy Blu as a dedication to Ms. Kitty. I followed that up with the over six foot tall Soave's "Crying Over You", Fast Eddie..."Booty Call" and Mellow Man Ace..."Mentirosa" also for the birthday girl. Though I played the set for Kitty, I got phoners of approval by other listeners, esspecially for "Mentirosa". Right before seven o'clock I played 7 minutes and 24 seconds of Safire's "Love Is On Her Mind".
The seven o'clock hour began with Shannon's "Let The Music Play-Y2K" which made Tim call in to ask for more pre-freestyle, old school cuts, namely Carol Lynn Townes "99 1/2" He also asked for music by Sonique that I didn't have, sorry! After Shannon was a request (from Canada) for Marisa Lopez's "I Can't Promise You Love", Stevie B..."Party Your Body", Rockell..."What U Did 2 Me", and a George Lamond medley of hits courtesy of Tony "Boom Boom" Badea. That was followed by information regarding George's pending return to Chicago and the Chromium Nightclub on Saturday, June 16th at 817 West Lake Street...Yippee! I then played Dino Latino..."Mi Nena", TKA..."Tears May Fall '92" and Collage by request for Lil Corina..."I'll Be Loving You" (which also led to a certain wife in Texas to sing along).
At eight o'clock, it was time for the "Words and Music" interview segment with actor comedian John Leguizamo. He spoke of his schooling, his Jackson Heights background, and how his career was given a boost by his roles as Calderon, Jr. in Miami Vice, and as terrorist #6, who got stepped on by Bruce Willis in "Die Hard" 1 or 2, I don't remember. During the interview, I played Tony Moran..."Lover", Liz Torres (by request)..."I Can't Get Enough", The Force..."If You Haven't Danced"... and Self-Image (by request for Inocencio and Inocencia)..."One True Love Affair".
After the interview, it was time to take care of unfinished business...George Lamond and Brenda K. Starr's "No Matter What" as dedicated to FreestyleKitty and Felix the Cat from Alex and Laura, Nyasia..."True Love" and InEffect featuring Eric G. and Armante with "Here I Go Again". That was a nice way to wrap up the show as I congratulated he artist formerly known as Armante who recently graduated from DePaul University and has been accepted into Law School. I also fielded the long distance call from Make Ya Dance in Texas (wait 'till Mrs. Dance gets the phone bill)!
Me thinks that was it for this past Friday, I can't wait until Friday from 6am-9am CST! Post your requests, etc. so that I can once again prepare my CD book.
Thanks for listening, reading, posting, e-mailing, etc. It means I'm not alone!
Respectfully,
Harv Roman
