MIAMI,nuff said!
i would like to send love to all the freinds and family of Celia cruz. To Tito Puente JR and the long list of names that follow after that.

here in miami this past saturday, we saw something that we had never seen before. We as a community, lost what we never lost before. The queen of the cuban sound. the queen of the latin sound. A sound that developed and flourished over 60 or more years and spread all around the world.A sound that develped and caried a 500 year history. A sound that united many and crossed and infused many genres of music through out the years, including dance music over the past 30 years.
Freestyle amung one of them.

New York. Tuesday is your day to represent and show love.
Understand, that this will never happen agian.
Take it to the streets.Take it to the church.
Although the younger ones might not understand completely, one day they will look back, understand and be like.."wow i was there. 1 mile or 2 feet away. i was a part of history".

for the peeps who dont undertsand...celia cruz is like a Josephine baker, billy Holliday, and so many other icons rolled into one.
She is the last of a world that no longer exist.
Nothing can take her place.

For many cubans and southfloridians, she not only was loved for her music, but also for the history and political figure she had become.
what all rolled into one she represented.
NEW YORK, this is your history. Musicaly......60's and 70's maybe salsa wasnt created but it was definetly born
CUBA Y PUERTO RICO, Juntos.

...mad love to new york.

VERY WELL SAID JON.....I AM SO HONORED AND SO PROUD TO SAY THAT IM A LATINA AND LIVE IN NEW YORK....I JUST GOT BACK FROM SEEING CELIA AT THE FRANK E CAMPBELL CHAPEL AND LET ME TELL YOU THAT THE FANS WAS OFF THE HOOK THEY ALL SCREAMED OUT HER NAME AND SANG HER SONGS WHILE WE ALL WAITING ONLINE....IT TOOK ME 3HRS TO FINALLY GET A GLIMPSE OF HER AND IM GOIN TO TELL YOU IT WAS WELL WORTH IT. SHE LOOKED GORGIOUS IN A WHITE SPARKLY GOWN AND HER SILVER WIG THAT I LOVED SO MUCH, HER FACE WAS SWEET TO LOOK AT SHE LOOKS LIKE SHES SLEEPING PEACEFULLY, HER MAKE UP WAS ON POINT WITH THE LASHES AND ALL HER NAILS WERE DONE ALSO SHE TRULY WAS SPECTACULAR TO SEE. THE LIL CHAPLE WAS ADORN IN THE MOST GLORIOUS FLOWER ARRANGMENTS I HAVE EVER SEEN IN A FUNERAL, ALSO AS YOU SEE HER THEY PLAYED HER SONGS ON A LIL RADIO THEN TO YOUR RIGHT AS YOU WALKED OUT 3 HUGEEEE PORTRAITS OF HER FROM WHEN SHE WAS YOUNGER...IT WAS GREAT TO SEE ALL LATINOS UNITED AS ONE TO REJOICE AND SING AND SCREAM OUT HER NAME AND LAUGHED. WHAT I TRULY FOUND AMAZING WAS THE STORIES WE HAD TO TELL EACHOTHER EVERYONE HAD A MEMORY OF WHEN THEY MET CELIA OR WHEN THEY SAW HER PERFORM ALL THE VIEJITOS TELLING OF HOW THEY KNOW HER FROM CUBA. IT TRULY WAS GREAT TO BE THERE, THIS REALLY IS HISTORY IN THE MAKING AND IM HONORED TO BE A PART OF IT.......
'QUE VIVA CELIA PARA SIEMPRE TU SI VIVIRAS EN NOSOTROS'!!!

ONE LUV AND GOD BLESS......

yeah grey i just came back from seein celia at the frank campbell chapel also :sosad and i couldnt believe the line that was there wow the multitude of fans was so numerous ppl from all over latin america was there representin singin her songs, dancing, screamin out her name sayin "que viva celia.........que viva!!"

and i agree with everythin u said grey, cuz i got the opportunity to see it also with my own eyes and i gotta say it was worth it i didnt care if it took me more than an hour just being outside while the sun was beamin hot and to go inside after the long wait and see her personally i tell u that theres no words to describe what was goin on over there u just had to see it for urself to experience the feeling

also seein celia for the second time although now shes in a coffin 🙁 was somethin emotional for me cuz rememberin when i first saw her and pedro together in laguardia airport back in 95 was a moment i will never ever gonna forget cuz i got the opportunity to talk with them and shake their hands and the way celia was that day especially is the same way she was always till this day so kind, so sweet, so charasmatic she was just one of a kind

and seein them both walk away side by side always smiling together i say there were the most cute adorable couple that ever live now that one is gone and one is left with a sad broken heart :sosad i just wanna say that my simpathys goes out to pedro knight and his family may the spirit of la dona celia cruz live forever in our hearts and may her legacy always continue.

I SAW HER TO KENNY, DIDNT SHE LOOK GREAT?😉

I'm from Floida, and have seen Celia in concert 5 times. I also had the great pleasure of meeting her and talking to her. She will be missed enormously. She made Salsa music what it is today. It's worldwide popularity is due to her charisma and outstanding stage presence. God Bless Celia and her family who were left to grieve.
