Does anyone interested in the songs by producer Carlos After Dark Berrios?
He was mostly associated with the "New School" freestyle sound. ie. Lizette Melendez first two singles is a good example of this. But he also produced other artist like Corina.

What do you think of his use of the rolling drum track based on sampled hip hop beats? Do you think it was an improvement from the more choppy drum tracks of previous songs from other productions?

Does anyone know about any of his new productions? Is he still doing stuff?

hi Speedtribe , we actually know Carlos Berrios very well 🙂 love his work, but Lissette and Corina were old school, which is when he came out with the new sound. He is a fantastic producer! 🙂

Thank you! wow! you know him? cool! actually i get the impression that the people in this site includes to the performers from the records? is this so? your name looks familiar. are you Nyasia the name in micmac records? nice to meet you! i usually got my freestyle from the used store, so its from the past, and Carlos Berrios stuff from early 90s was written "new school" on it, but i guess from our present day position its considered old. but i was wondering what are good example of Carlos Barrios "new new" sound ie, most recent sound? i will wait for his new compliation to be released.

Thank you very much! And thank you for the great music! 🙂

True Freestylers-love Carlos Berrios!!!!His new school style made Freestyle popular in the early 90's, so popular Lisette Melendez performing on MTV and video in constant rotation.Very rare for MTV in the 90's, but they called Freestyle-Club music back then.Buy LISCYN single on www.amazon.com his mix & others are very good!

His latest production is LisCyn "I can't change your mind". He produced and mixed one version.

By the way, I have his complete discography. If you want it, PM me thru this site and let me an email addy.
I did this discography with Carlos Berrios.

Classical music has it's Beethoven, Motown has it's Barry Gordy, hip-hop has it's Dr. Dre, freestyle's chosen son will always be Carlos "after dark" Berrios . . .

Carlos's entire body of work absolutely kills. Hard hitting drums, beautifully layered melodies, crazy a** edits, you name it . . .

All time favs . . .

RON ESCO . . . give me your heart
KING OF FREESTYLE . . . back in time
JASMIN . . . on the loose
LISETTE MELEDEZ . . . a day in my life

you said it good! i think that song's balance of synthesizers and rolling drum track sample is a masterpiece. if ever was i forced to pick the one 90s "new school" freestyle above the rest it would be LIZETTE MELENDEZ "A Day In My Life Without You", i saw the music video too, it was great, she looked great! too bad theres no extended video that goes to the extended 12 inch version, it would be great! but it perfectly fine to listen to that song over again 10 times on CD repeat mode and never get tired of it. Excellent!
