Pete you know I got your back these are my reason and replying back to Mecca......Hi Mecca, the thing is that alot of the PROMOTERS, or People who books us to performed at places expect that all of the New and Some old perform for free. WRONG!!!!! I'm just think if mest up the way they treat artists. I think that:
1. If the Fans wants to see an artists and request and artists, that means that the artists are valuable.
2. If the Fans are paying money to get in at a show to see a show, that means that the artists are valuable.
3. If a promoter wants you at their venues that means the artists are valuable. So where am I getting at, easy Stop with the Free shows, and Stop making it seem that we are 1. Greedy and 2. Selfish, because we are charging. Nobody pays for our music nor pays for our trasportation, or give us the respect that alot of us deserve. There's alot of artists behind my thoughts and alot who agree but are to afraid to step up. So I will still release my album and more music and I will still work producers and what not. But I think we need to get respected. I'm proud of my work and proud of what my 2 brothers and I accomplish with in the last 15 years. Lets keep our music alive. Thats my reason Mecca nothing personal to anybody...... 😉
Mos def. They should at least cover the transportation. An artist can always hustle their cd while at the shows. A lot of promoters get away with this becuase of the risk their taking. Like fees for the sound system and lights, security, the location and if its outside then you need insurance, promotion... It's tuff from both aspects. But ya, I agree witcha too Alex.
Alex you are soooo right. I have been there, over and over again. It seems that you have to have hit songs in the late 80's and early ninties to get paid. Its sad. Alot of the new kats are awesome. But promoters always think they are doing you a favor. As far as selling cds at shows, it all depends. we did well at springfield. and we seem to sell some at some shows but nothing compared to getting paid for a show. Not only do we have to perform but we have to after the show set up a section and become salesman. Thats not cool. Alex, keep you head up. You have the desire, dedication and love for this music. I wish you the best always. Even though I may not be in the scene and dont really talk to everyone like i used to, I still check on the sites and read the mags to find out whats goin on with you all. I miss the scene. Even now that I have my album out. I dont do shows or anything. Believe me I care. I wish there was something I could do to help everyone out. Alex, Nick, Ashley, Filpzide etc... I wish you all the best.
