spyboy

no undercover police officer has to say yes they are a cop on duty thats BS........i studied this in school and know for a fact that they dont have to tell you they are a cop........they are undercover for a reason........so the public does not know he is a cop.......if you think about undercover drug cops........if they are in the middle of a drug buy and the crooks ask the undie if he is a cop.......do you honestly think he is gonna say YES knowing full well that that answer is risking his life.......he does not have to tell you anything if he is undercover........he is doing his job.........now if you know someone is a cop and he is doin undercover surveillance and you tell everyone that.....you are obstructing justice coz he is in the course of his duties and you can be arrested........simple case in point highbeaming other cars as they pass to single a radar trap can get your ass jailed.........but anyways back to the point he doesnt have to say YES........he is there collecting info and there is nothing you can do about it

Vixen, turbos are legal, that's not what spyboy meant, he meant that doing a turbo addon w/o notifying insurance is illegal, at least that's how I see it.

Eluder I think she meant my question...
anyhow I know that Vixen, but I mean if I were to stick a turbo into my car, I wanna know when there's a line... there're obviously different types/levels(whatever u call it) of a turbo... that's what I wanna know.

vixen

There are a lot of cars out there that come with a "stock" turbo
i.e the audi's you mentioned
Buick Grand National etc etc

These cars have their engine "types" listed on there VIN number so it's legit. Im talkin about (like sxy mentioned) parts on the car that aren't stated in their VIN, i.e turbo's, superchargers, rockets, torpedoes and so on and so forth. Actually if anybody has a car with rockets on it I'd like to put some on my car hahahaha😉

Stages generally mean lotsa things, not just the turbo actually... But if you're speaking in terms of turbo only, it would be amount of boost (PSI or Bar), and the size of the turbo. Bigger turbo means more boost, but also more lag, unless you've got a big arse V8 forcing enough air. Also you could try getting a BOV which'll help out w/turbo lag.

ok ok ok.. can ANYONE answer my QUESTION dammit :sosad. What's the highest stage of a turbo that's STILL legal................ I KNOW there must be a limit.

It's not the stage really, it's the amount of power and mostly emissions. All depends on the car. If the car pushes a lot of power, but it still meets emissions, then it's most likely all good, unless you're talking 1000+ HP. 🙂 What car you planning on adding some boost to?

CRX eh, uhm, does that have a VTec? From what I know, and it's not that much when it comes to Hondas (cause I hate em 😀), but to turbo a Civic it takes a fair amount of work if you want it to be reliable. The engines have a high compression ratio which is bad news for a lot of boost, at most on an Si you can run about 8 Psi which is still pushing it, you really have to build up the engine to support turbo on Civics. If you just slap in some decent boost (8 Psi is nothing) w/o building up the engine, say bye bye to the engine soon...

hm.. well the IDEA is to put a Type R into it first... THEN a turbo.....

I think that's even tougher... Type R engines have a crazy high compression ratio (10.6:1), therefore you definitely have to build up the engine, and drop the compression ratio to put in a high pressure turbo. Better do some major research before getting any of this done, don't want the engine to go boom!
