Check this out people!!I recieved an email from VH-1:

Have you spent the night with a rock, hip-hop, or pop star? We want to hear about it! VH1 and CameraPlanet are producing a new reality television show about real people who have shared a night of raucous partying, intimate romance, or simply hanging out with a famous musician.
If chosen, we will come to your home town to film you.

can we get them to do some of FREESTYLE ARTISTS????

I know I have spent many of long and dark nights with some of FREESTYLE's elite!!!! do you think we can pull this off??????????

GOOD NEWS!!!!

I just called and the producer was VERY INTERESTED!!!!

She knew freestyle music very well BUT she wanted to know if I had even gotten intimate with any of them (ok, freestyle divas....nows your chance!!!)

I have to email her back with some REAL JUICY STUFF!

Lol I dunno why I find this funny but I do lol...hmmmmmmm but it would be kool to see 🙂

HEY,if anyone here "spent the night" with some one famous (sexually or whatever!) VH-1 wants to know!!! they will do a show on YOU!!! She said she would use me but i didnt have any intimate stories with any artists (dreams dont count!🙂)

:mad Hey Kenny, you know what pisses me off? (Not with you) It's funny how VH-1 would be interested in the dirt of the lives of Freestyle Artists but put NO EMPHASIS or IMPORTANCE on the talent of these Freestyle Artists. :nono If they find out the dirt on them, is it going to open the doors of opportunity and give them a slot of their own on VH-1? I'm sure a lot of freestyle artists would be interested in knowing this too. VH-1 isn't supporting the freestyle music today. Maybe they should show some support before getting the gossip on these artists! :yoplease

Am I wrong?

You know Kenny, I have to agree with LaBettyBoop it seems that with all these Reality based shows on the music channel airwaves these days, they need to start playing the music these people sing before wanting to air out there dirty laundry for the whole world to see. VH1 Classic had a promising start with there "We are the 80's" program, but that has fallen into the mainstream of playing the same old drawn out 80's videos that we have all seen. I miss the All request video channels like the "BOX" used to be..

I think Freestyle has enough of a history that a documentary should be made. I think we should call or make a petition for Ken Burns to do it. If you guys dont know who he is, this guy did documentarys for Baseball and Rock-n-Roll History. BTW in that series they did show and have Arthur Baker talk. This was around the time Planet Rock and the Electro funk scene was coming on, and also shown New Order doing the song the Baker Produced.

This is true SiameseSher, but I think the new King and Queens of Freestyle DVD's are as close as we are going to get to a Documentary

Siamese I would love to see a documentary on Freestyle but really what kind of a history does freestyle have without ever having MTV, VH-1, or any other MAJOR TV Network to put these artists out there FIRST so they could acquire recognition like other artists in R&B, Rock, Hip-Hop, etc.? The majority of people would look at a documentary on Freestyle artists and perhaps say things like "who the hell is he/she?" "What the hell is this?" And turn the channel. I don't think that "our" people population who love freestyle music is sufficient enough as oppose to the population of Hip-Hop, R&B, Rock, etc. to keep freestyle documentaries alive. They need music video exposure on MAJOR TV Networks. Old & New school.

I mean take "Beatstock" for example.........Beatstock is versatile!😉 It has artists who sing different types of music right? Why hasn't VH-1 or MTV come down to one of the "Beatstocks" and make a big thing out of it? :confused Record it and air it for people who wanted to be there but couldn't and now have the opportunity to see it on TV? I think that's a very much "open door" opportunity for freestyle artists to get recognized! :yeey

I agree with you also BUT sometimes we have to take what is offered sometimes because frankly, this isnt 1989 anymore. "freestyle" isnt on the charts and if we want it back, changes have to be made. big changes. not the same sound from 2 decades ago but a NEW SOUND. Do you think a DISCO song would survive today? or how about a rap song that sounds like it was from 1986? not unless they had a moderern beat!

Kenny, right now on KTU (7/13: 9:32am) they just mentioned that VH1 Special. "A Night With". For people to tell their stories about who they've spent "a night with" (famous person of course).

I do have to agree with LaBetty here... besides that, I don't think if there was any "kissing" going on around here, people here have to much respect for their artists to tell about it. Ya know.

One thing we have here is respect... we admire our artists like no other. I don't think any "talking" will come out of the fans mouths here unless of course, the artists agrees.

And yes Scott... I miss the Box as well.

What is it with all these damn reality shows... If MTV wants to air reality shows, why don't they just broadcast another channel... "for just that" and give us some music already.

Kenny, I know you're heart is in this and you are only looking out for the artists here so whatever happens... I'm behind you.

😉

I totally agree with the rest of you on this subject. It's not fair for the artist who is being put out there like that, nor is it fair for the person who had the "romance" to sell him/herself for the chance to be on television. That's pretty stupid. VH1 is stupid. Instead of making something positive out of it, they just want to promote drama.

Kenny, don't bother pursuing this. Besides, I wouldn't necessarily consider a 5-minute rendezvous in the backseat of a tour bus or a quickie backstage a "romance". That's pretty sad.

well since labetty boop is married to a freestyle artist maybe she can be the one they do it on. It might get more recognition for & more. it can be a positive show instead of a trashy one. who knows this might put freestyle back on the charts!! lol.

As much as I love you and Willie I have to disagree with you about the Beatstock issue. It's all bullshit!! KTU hypes up freestyle just for the show by getting some of the artists to come up on radio for interviews but when the show is over it's the same old bullshit. They just wanna sell tickets and compete will HOT 97 (Summer Jam). It's all about the money. Record companies and promoters of freestyle back in the days would all gather up at the station to get their new tracks on the radio and KTU would always give them a hard time; but when it came down to KTU doing a big show they gather Vito Bruno together and wala here go all your freestyle artists performing at their events; meanwhile they wouldn't play your record in regular rotation. Willie knows !!!! It's so pathetic sometimes the freestyle artists have to get to these events on their own.
