can figure out the name of this song

I would like somebody to tell me the name of a new york freestyle song that played a few times on the radio on ktu during aprox. 1987-88,this song had a sixties beat to it,but was in fact a freestyle song,somewhat similar to the song "she hangs out" by "the monkees",you could say it had a 60's beat but it was definetly from the 80's,also I vagely remember it was a man who sang this song,please somebody tell me the artist's name and the song's name,thanks in advance.

Ya would need to know the lyrics and if its a male or female and it better be freestyle cause in the end if it isnt then that ruins the whole purpose of thinking its a freestyle track.
