I've always been a big fan of West Coast Freestyle/Dance since the mid 90's, esp. when Angelina tore shit up with "Release Me" and Jocelyn with "Do You Miss Me". I was all about that for awhile.

Yes I also like Do You Miss Me and Ecstasy by Jocelyn Enriquez. The remixes by Glen Gutierrez also were very good. His used the obvious Planet Rock influence drum tracks in that. It seemed to be the trend in the mid-90s with that Booty Bass - Planet Rock beats revival happening in european electro, the Atlanta scene, and I guess it reached to the Bay Area. I really liked the Classified Records artists, but I have to say that at some points in the remixes there was a bit of over production. At some points the influence of an Chicago House influence and could be heard.

BTW the Classified Records artists were Filipino werent they, like Jocelyn Enriquez and Pinay Divas? But freestyle audiences in the East Coast NY and Miami were mostly Latino and Italian communities it seems like?

Although, I lived in the west coast my whole life.I'm not much of a fan of the west coast Freestyle.Angelina & others artists tend to be overated and the beats too proggressive.The best albums to come out from the west coast are BUFFY-"First Love" and STEVIE B-"Funky Melody".Tolga Katas work on the DAIZE album is very good.MICHELLE DIAZ sounds like LIL'JOHANNA/LIL'SUZY which is probably why I like her.DAMIA, CHRISTINA MARIE, & MARI P have amazing vocals.Other than that most are just ok or I just don't like.

are you talking about DJ ANTRON - EARTHQUAKE the most disgusting west coast electro hip hop track youll ever hear. it did receive a full 12" repress but is only being sold out of germany for ridiculous prices.


jocelyn....what are the original mixes like? ive only ever heard the tommy boy/timber mixes.
