I heard a radio commercial with her announcing her radio show, sunday nites at 9pm on mix 1027. i don't think this will be a freestyle show - but u never know
 
I just heard this too and was going to post about it. It didnt say anything about it being a freestyle show but she will be on from 9-12 on Sunday nights taking requests and dedications. So who knows..maybe it will turn into a freestyle show as competition for Judy on KTU.

102.7 seems to be gettin up there.. Theyve hired some ex KTU people as well...
 
i think it's a good move. hire the younger freestyle diva to compete with the older one.
 
I love Mix 102.7! I think they are great competition for KTU. I hope that Brenda's show is Freestyle also, I think the competition wouldnt do anything except add to the quality of both shows.(Brenda's and Judy's)
 
Brenda vs. Judy

Well I love Brenda and Judy but I mean come on we all know that Judy is da queen and Brenda has had more mainstream success in the music scene than Judy but Judy does it with the freestyle. I'm surprised Brenda is doing a freestyle show. By the way is 102.7 any good I haven't listen to it yet.

I dont think we determined if Brenda is doing a Freestyle show.And you are right, much love to Judy, she is Queen, but in my opinion, the more Freestyle on the radio the better.
As for Mix 102.7, it is great! But I am looking at your age, I am not so sure you would like it better than KTU like I do cause they play alot of 70's disco (think Joe Causi when he was on KTU), but what is great they play freestyle frequently during the day. Mostly mainstream stuff....like Stevie B, Cover Girls, Expose, stuff that was Top 40, nothing more hardcore freestyle...although we did hear them play "Perfect" by C-Bank a couple of Friday nights on the ride home.
 
I actually have to disagree about the Freestyle show. Let Judy do her Freestyle thing, Brenda should do something different and mix in Freestyle along with other club classics. I don't think we need the same recycled Freestyle classics on both radio stations at the same time on the same night. And there's really no need for competition. Brenda doesn't need some show to solidify her career. She's on top. I think this is more of a hobby for her. I mean damn, she has five kids, maybe this radio show is a great idea for a little escape.
 
LOL!!!! In the commercial she says its a show for listener's requests..

I don't think it will be a freestyle show. In recent years, Brenda K Starr has gone to great lengths to distance herself from her freestyle roots.

Yes she does her Salsa thang, but from time to time does do a Freestyle song in her shows, even if it's accapella.

About the age, they are around the same age, but Brenda came out waaay before Judy.
Ms. Brenda debuted in 1984. 🙂
