‘American Idol’-style show will cast new version of 1980s group

MIAMI - The Puerto Rican boy band Menudo, which gave singer Ricky Martin his start, is coming back as part of an “American Idol”-style reality show.
Dozens of Latino teenagers showed up for auditions Saturday at a waterfront market in Miami, the Miami Herald reported. Judges included Johnny Wright, the music manager behind New Kids on the Block, ’NSync and the Backstreet Boys, and Backstreet Boy Howie Dorough.
Menudo was one of the most popular boy bands of the 1980s and ’90s, rotating in new talent every few years when the singers got old or their voices changed.


“We’re going to make it a little different than it was before,” Wright told the Herald. “The beat is going to be the beats of the street now — club, hip-hop and rock. It’s not going to be something that’s pigeonholed.”
Seven boys from auditions being held around the country will be picked to film the series “The Road to Menudo,” airing next month on MTV Tr3s, MTV’s bilingual Latin-American channel.
 
You want to know about manufactured music and a group that doesnt care about their fans nor does the management care about the group then Menudo is for you.

This group is the far worst group ive ever seen and heard. They kick people out cause their too old or their voices change. So really goes to show how much the managment really cares. So one day you could be a star the next your yesterdays news.

Menudo was a great boy-band back in the dayz. For all their latin fans, they were the issssssssshhhhh....I was and still am a fan of their music.

Menudo broke-off and become MDO.
 
I'm so sick of reality shows. I wish they'd all go away. I have enough reality to deal with. I don't need to watch other people's realities.. Isn't that what television is for? To get a break from reality? If I want reality, I'll watch the news and hear all about the baby that was ass-raped and the pregnant mother who was shot and killed by a stray bullet.

Yeah they were cool back in the day - BACK IN THE 80'S I was a fan when I was an adolscent girl. But for them to bring it all back, it won't work. We're in the 21st century, the 20th century is over already lol.
 
I got a better idea.. Lets do a Freestyle Artist Reality show. That way we can have camera's follow our most loved artist... I would want to follow;

It would be fun to see how interesting their lives are off stage.

I'm not gonna watch it. I used to love them..Had all their records, seen them live, but that was over 20 yrs ago. If I was to see them now I doubt I can even tell who's who..so f**k em.
 
Come to think of it, I'm sure a "Chipendale's" reality tv show would do much better. Of course, I wouldn't be watching because I'm not a straight female, nor a gay male 🙂
