Hey Kenny I miss O&A too as well as R&F (The Island & the reef).

What's the funniest thing about NYC radio?
1) NYC is the city that never sleeps.
2) When you think of music you think of NY, LA, Miami, Memphis, Chicago, and London.
3) NYC's Nightlife.

NYC radio does not reflect the city. What it does reflect is the music industries' stranglehold on the radio market.

Essentially what happens is, come Summertime and Christmas and all that other stuff, the music industry says play my artist and as a bonus we'll have him/her showup at one of your events for free. The magic word free. We can hold a concert of high-end talent for free. Radio will not listen to us like they did once, like "HOT103" did. Hot 103 was a station that went out on a limb playing freestyle and house. At the time Freestyle got label support and the clubs were having the artist performing them live. Now things are pretty scarce. Clubs have been forced to closed by their landlords because they can make more money from other sources. So who's getting shafted here? Those with the dreams and aspirations of becoming a dance artist. Hell I rather put on my cable and listen to the DANCE station. We have nothing and it's pitiful. LA has there's, Miami has there's, Chicago has there's, London has there's, heck Orlando has a better push on HI-NRG/Dance music. If someone doesn't take the chance and say we can play bits & piece of some old tracks like disco and one not but we have to keep it rooted in a "Club" sound, we will never have a true dance station. The closest that KTU got to a true sound was the 70's, 80's, 90's dance weekend.
We'll never have as it once was.

Arizona also has energy 92.7/101.1! but 103.9 the party station no longer exists - it finally got bought out for the last time by a rock/alternative staton that got bought out by a spanish station and had to find a weaker station to steal or just be gone. I guess if 103.9 were still around, they would just continue to change formats every year and a half and continue to confuse their competition.

you hear it first here WNEW WHere Freestyle AND Dance Music Lives THat is my bet

clear channels 104.7 kiss f.m. changed a few times. Everyone used to depend on them for the top 40 but they got rid of the pop, dance, and alternative and became urban rhythmic to compete with power 92.3 #1 for hip hop & r&b which has never been beat and don't see it being beat anytime soon. They try to copy each other too much! Mix shows at the same time, both stop playing dance music around the same time, both try to do slow jams & dedications around the same time, both wanted to do oldies sunday nights,... etc.
We don't have a top 40 station - which means if you come to phoenix, you better bring your Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Hillary Duff, enrique iglesias, nsync, tatu, Mandy Moore, seal, stacey orrico, dream,... etc. c.d.'s! NO TOP 40 IN ARIZONA - program director wanted to make clear channels 104.7 kiss f.m. urban sounding. I just wish they would loose the "kiss f.m." name and change it to "the beat" or "wyld" or "hot" because kiss f.m. doesn't sound hip hop at all, it reminds me of TOP 40 and having top 30/40 countdowns every weekend. We need a top 40 station like every normal state has - radio disney doesn't count.
