Hey,
I have been watching the VH1 specials today for "Black In The 80's", & in the segment "Color TV" when talking about The Cosby Show, ...Sweet Sensation's "Sincerely Yours" was used for the background music!

I thought it was kool. 🙂

Aside from that, Lisa Lisa, Rosie Perez, Mimi Valdez, & other Latino's have been featured in the segments as celeb speakers/commentors. They have also used other Freestyle songs in the background.

They have covered music, movies, TV, & other great stuff from the 80's that's related to black, & urban culture. Great show!
Having flashbacks ova here. 🙂

(Still LOVE & watch "A Diffrent World" - Whitley, Dwayne, & Jellysa!!!! -LOL!)

I loved the segment on Music. It's a great segment. If Freestyle had more black artist, it could have been more of a feature in The Def Jams episode. Freestyle did help latino kids get by in the 80's like Rap did with blacks!

But want everybody on CF to check out Black in The 80's

Freestyle did have one or two black artists - Monet, Shannon and Jay Novelle ("If This Ain't Love" from 1984) and surprisingly, all these records were on the same label - Emergency! Can anybody think of anyone else?

Joyce Simms was black, & to my knowledge so is Trinere (aka: Veronica Farrington).
I always thought Trinere & Jasmine Guy of "A Different World" looked alot alike back in da day.

I know one of the guys from Hanson & Davis was black, & so was one of the guys from Nice & Wild.

Susan Johnson, & then (her replacement) Donna Huntley of Company B.

Sunshine Wright (original member of The Cover Girls)
& Michelle Valentine also of the The Cover Girls (1990-1995)

Mike of Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam (not too sure of Spanador's nationality).

April Harris of Seduction

Come to think of it, ..what the HELL is Stevie B? I've heard he's so many things, but never a pure answer. I know his last name is Hill. (Steven B. Hill).
Anyone know?

Hmmm.. I know there are a few more. 🙂
But these VH1 shows are good.

So are Puerto Ricans & Dominicans. It's a Carribean thing.
But his last name is Hill, so it wouldn't make sense unless he's mixed.
Anyone know?
