Hi there

Does anybody know what was the last 3 Freestyle songs to enter the Billboard Hot 100 chart?
And
what was the highest position reached by a freestyle artist within the last 5 years?

p.s

Anyone interested in visiting London, England 2 C freestyle live?

🙂

The last tracks in the US were

L'amour Toujours (I'll Fly with you) - Gigi D'Agostino
Summer Jam - The Underdog Project
What U did 2 Me - Rockell

None broke the top 40 in the US although they were top hits in Canada.

GIGI D'AGOSTINO IS NOT FREESTYLE MUSIC. PLEASE DON'T CONFUSE THE TWO.

Gigi D'Agostino's track "L'amour Toujours (I'll Fly With You)" may not be of the freestyle genre in your opinion, but it is in mine, and many others in Canada and worldwide. Also, numerous major labels outside of the US have licensed and released many of the remixes as a freestyle record pakage and included the track on numerous freestyle music compilations. In Canada, it is on EMI Music 12", cd maxi singles and on the compilation "Freestyle Frenzy Vol. 5".

not to add fire to the flame but when KTU puts on a freestyle song, they label it with an ID saying "FREESTYLE FIX" as the song begins. "ILL FLY WITH YOU" never had one hence it not being "FREESTYLE". I think KTU knows what thier doing when it comes to ID'S.

NO WAY not freestyle but a dance song yes, They should have not added Gigi D,Agostino to the frenzy 5. Its not FREESTYLE.

I've tried to give my opinion here and have gotten smacked (which is ok) by dj types who tell me TRANCE is not the next step in freestyle, but I, for one, can see why people would confuse some trance with freestyle.

Trance and freestyle? 😱 I see no connection and no one should! The only thing is that they're both sorta dance music, but that's all!

Ok guys

How about getting back to my original question please

thanks

well, wether we like it or not, call it breakbeat, latin hip hop, 2 step, electro, west coast, miami beat, funky melody, old skool,...everyone has a different ear to freestyle and it's all good.

Gigi D'Agostino's remixes of "L'amour Toujours (I'll Fly With You)" are sold as a freestyle package and the tracks are considered a freestyle song by many, including consumers, retailers and major labels. Its place on the frenzy 5 cd or the many freestyle music compilations is more then adequate. So enjoy the freestyle and play it.

People should open up and get used to the sound of freestyle moving forward. In the examples of Canada, Germany and Brazil where there is a new interest and demand for the sound, it is very different then the indie products that get occasional play on KTU and its mix shows. Artists like Robin Fox, Sonique, Larissa, Flying Steps and The Underdog Project amongst many others ,who do not fall in the traditional US freestyle sound definition, have proven Top 40 international chart success accomplishments outside of the USA, with major label distribution and radio play. They have propelled awareness of the sound to new listeners worldwide and given a new meaning to broadcast quality, international freestyle with good vocals, instrumentation and productions. Let's be happy and keep playin it, freestyle needs it! nuf said.

The last Freestyle song to hit the top 40 was back in 96 when the Freestyle/trip hop scene was big. Songs like Planet Soul's "Set U Free", "Feels so good" - Lina Santiago, "Release Me" - Angelina. Unfortunately, Jocelyn Enriquez' "Do You miss Me" fell short of the top 40 hitting number 44. Since then there has not been a freestyle song to make it in the top 40 unless you consider Sonique's "It feels so good" freestyle, then that would be the last song to make it in the top 40 and the top 10.

For the top 40 in the USA, there was also Sonique "It Feels So Good" . And for the hot 100, u got the last three at the beginning of this thread.

Actually, there is a major connection as newer producers in europe and canada are including electro and planet rock beats in parts or all remixes of vocal trance and club singles. DJ'S@Work, Dance Nation, Dee Dee and Sylver are great examples of branded international artists amongst many others, on major record labels, that are following this trend with cross over Top 40 hits in Europe and Canada.

The Planet Rock beat plays an important role in freestyle. But just because you hear a song, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ing any song with a planet rock beat doesnt mean it's freestyle. And plus, these are only remixes they would never be actual singles because it simply wont sell. Theyre tiring. And plus no. 2 I dont think the direction of freestyle is going towards planet rock anymore. I feel it is finally evoluting.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion but it does not change the fact that artists are pressing breakbeat/electro freestyle remixes on their singles as recently demonstrated by branded international artists like Fragma, Sylver, Dee Dee and Ian Van Dahl amongst many others. On another note, I agree that simply including a planet rock/electro beat on part of a dance/vocal trance track does not make it freestyle although it certainly is a good teaser for the genre that is indeed moving forward in many parts of the world; I would much rather be listening to the full remix on a vinyl or maxi-cd when they are made available. (eg: The breakbeat, freestyle and 2 step remixes of "Toca's Miracle " by Fragma were released way after the single was a top 10 hit in Canada and Europe).
