Bill Clinton has a serious heart condition and is due to have quadruple bypass surgery. I hope all goes well for him and that he is ok.

Bill Clinton to Undergo Heart Surgery

Former President Bill Clinton is expected to undergo bypass surgery in a New York City hospital early next week, the former Commander in Chief told Larry King during a Friday night phone interview on CNN.

Clinton, 58, checked himself into New York-Presbyterian Hospital Friday and is likely to have a quadruple bypass there. He had been experiencing chest pains and fatigue Thursday and went to Northern Westchester Hospital, where doctors examined him and later advised him to have the surgery.

Though it was originally thought the operation would take place Saturday, it will occur early next week so that Clinton's blood can be thinned first, reports say.

The 42nd president, who has been traveling the country promoting his best-selling memoir My Life, was planning to accompany his wife, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, on a two-day trip through upstate New York. The senator and the couple's daughter, Chelsea, will be with Clinton at the hospital while he undergoes the operation.

Clinton has been enjoying good health lately but noticed during his jogs he " had some difficulty getting my distance up," he told King. He does not have a history of heart trouble, though a 2001 medical report indicated he had above-normal cholesterol and borderline high blood pressure. The former president had lost significant weight in the last year, which he credited to exercise and the South Beach diet.

Mrs. Clinton told reporters that her husband " is in excellent hands" at New York-Presbyterian Medical Center. In the CNN interview, Clinton said he's looking forward to seeing " what it's like to run five miles again."

Displaying his characteristic sense of humor, he added, " The Republicans aren't the only people who want four more years."

I understand how u feel Joe, however health knows no age, race, or social status, as we saw with Laura Branigan passing away last week. Everyone is human and its more in God's hands than anyone else's.

Money has nothing to do with it. When your heart is sick it's sick. I hope he pulls thru.

Im really glad that he is out of surgery and doing ok. Even though he might have made a mistake with Monica Lewinsky, I think he was a very good president and he's a good man.

I agree with you Freestylegal, he was a damn good president. Better than Bush that's for sure.
