since u guys were so nice to send me a free cd, i bought vol 1 and 2 today(for gifts)....( i already bought vol 1 for me a while ago) 😛
thanks agian for the cd its great
your cd's are awesome...i bought vol. 1 when it came out and i burned vol 2(cause they were out in the stores) but i'm still gonna buy to keep the freestyle alive
->Its a very well mixed cd and joe has alot of talent and I'll continue to buy the volumes he releases because they are great edits, but what good is it doing freestyle by playing shit thats 15 yrs old? Stop thinking this is helping freestyle because it isn't. Its just proving that freestyle is only good when its 15 yrs old and that current freestyle has no future. There are lots of freestyle from Canada and Cali thats worthy of being on a new comp.
->Bad boy joe isn't promoting new freestyle. He's just using us the fan and old school freestyle to make as much money as possible.
->Why not mix NEW freestyle and help the growth of freestyle? Joe has extreme talent and should use it to help NEW freestyle. No, instead of promoting new freestyle, they'd rather make a quick buck and laugh at us everytime we compliment the cd here on cf.
->Its a talented mixed cd, don't get me wrong. But its hurting freestyle more than its helping. Kinda like KTU playing all old freestyle and nothing new. They're confirming the only good freestyle was from 1986-1991 and that freestyle currently has no future
->Lets see Volume 3 be all newer freestyle (1994-2001). Then I'll say joe is here for the love of freestyle, and not just to make money
Great Jack. Thank you, I will be sure to post on that topic also, although Im' sure my request for Vol 3 to be more current freestyle songs will be turned down quite swiftly.
Publicity and good will on the radio? They're buying radio time to sell cd's!!! Listen to the commercial. "Back in 1988, when music had style". Whats that say about todays freestyle ?!?
And Jack, its reminding people of how hot our music WAS, not is.
We need to stop promoting 1987 and start promoting 2001 freestyle.
FreestyleFelix, I urge you to make your like of 10 new school
songs. I am not the type of person to complain. I take action.
Please trust me when I tell you to do the same.
Dear FreestyleFelix,
Joe & I really do appreciate your comments. First of all our plan is to develop Bad Boy Joe's name and following. And it is far easier to sell established hits than to grab people's attention with new tracks (no matter how hot they may be) that they have never heard before.
Before starting our label, What If Productions, I was the dance music buyer and salesperson for over 10 years in the music distribution business in The Bronx & Westchester (where Freestyle music is KING). I have seen many Freestyle compilations come and go by Mic Mac, Metropolitan, Cutting, Thump as well as many small indy 12-inch releases. I took notice that each volume of Tommy Boy's Freestyle's Greatest Beats series sold in the thousands for us while at the same time we were lucky to sell perhaps only 30-90 c.d.'s or cassettes of any of the other Freestyle comps from the other labels. Because of the tremendous expense in assembling any album for major market distribution (e.g. 105 thousand dollars starting money used for our first c.d.)...we had to be very careful to chose music with this longest shelf life. Too often with new music....most albums have a shelf life of only several months.....while classics would sell indefinitely. There is no doubt in our minds the The Best of Freestyle Megamix Vols. One & Two will continue to sell forever.
As for us making a quick buck.....believe it or not....although our first album continues to sell well......neither Joe nor I have seen any profit at all from the sales...but instead invested 100% of the revenue towards volume 2. If anyone is the winner, it is the freestyle fan than picks up our c.d. and listens to these great songs and Joe's mixing style over and over and over.
We do, however, have several projects in the works which we will release next year. One of which is something completely new that we are working on in conjunction with Sal Abbatiello and Fever Records.
We are also discussing new projects with famed freestyle producer, Carlos Berrios.
Thanks again for your input. We take everything into consideration.
Sincerely,
Gene Rombola & Joe 'Bad Boy' Marcano
I got the cd today in the mail and I love it!! Although I have a lot of the songs scattered on different cd's it doesn't matter this one has them on one 🙂 Yes it has a lot of older songs like was being discussed in previous but there is nothing wrong with that, there are lots of cd's for sale in Toronto with new songs as well as old.
Great cd guys. Keep up the good work. Although I do have to admit that i would love a new cd compilation to come out focusing on the new school and future of freestyle. These days you can only get comps like that from canada.
However, you didn't argue my point I made saying you guys aren't helping freestyle. In fact, sounds like you guys proved my point that you are only out for the money when you basically said you did research and realized the only cd's that sell are the ones with popular songs on them.
Also, you might have lots of people on this board hypnotized into thinking you are helping freestyle. But i don't buy it. The mighty dollar sign shines out of the words you type on your posts.
Hey read what Gene Rambola said again. I think he made sense and did it in such a nice way too. It's a business. How can they keep going if the new stuff doesn't sell enough? Maybe if the older BADBOY's sell enough it will finance the newer projects.
If people actually MAKE MONEY IN FREESTYLE there
will be MORE FREESTYLE for all of us.
Can you understand that?
Every other member here does.
Not to mention this cd is HOT.
Next.. To all our members.. You have just witnessed
FreestyleFelix trying to bring us all down. He is the kind of
person who Whines and Cries like a little girly man.
That gets us NOWHERE.. If You and I - Whined and Cried this
site would have been dead REAL FAST.
I wont let that happen to our community.
It retards the growth of freestyle and peoples feelings for freestyle.
Felix made no contribution to this web site.
All his post were negeative.. Felix is someone
I do not want to see here.
Wasting your time and mine. He is no longer welcome here.
You and I will continue to promote freestyle ..open peoples
eyes to our music.
While this person felix is whining and crying CLUBFREESTYLE
peeps are MAKING IT HAPPEN!.
