The big worry the military has right now is that the Reserves will not meet there quota due to the length of tours going on right now. So what the Department of Defense is looking into is shortening it by 6 months. (Good idea.)

This will be in effect for Active Army, Army Reserves, and National Guard.

Lets say the govt decided to re-enstate the draft. You dont find it neccessary to keep the fight off of american soil and bring it to them?

Lets say it stayed at voluntary bases. And we didn't have the numbers to sustain the fight because no one decided to join. Now we have no choice but to bring our troops back, thus giving the Terrorist the "Home Team" advantage on our turf. Is that what you prefer?

What if (God forbid) you and your family were walking near lets say, Citicorp building and AL-Queda decided to blow that one up. Knowing that it placed you and your family at risk and danger, would you actually prefer that?

You people hate the war. Heck I hate the war. But you know what? The Iraq war is just another name that our Government has decided to give it plus wage war upon terrorism. And this you people fail to realize.

So....you can hate all you want, but the minute a High Explosive device explodes in your neighborhood, or a plane goes sailing into a building near you, In a NY Minute you'll be screaming "Where's our Protection from the Terrorist?"

My response will be, "Well, we pulled back due to lack of enlistment plus the fact that we could not draft personnel."

Okay good points but the thread started before was about "drafting". We, as parents, naturally say "not my kid(s)". Of course, we don't want them to be injured or lose their lives. That's a parents love talking. I know that if there's a shortage on people who don't want to enlist in the arm services that there are many risks to face such as the one you mentioned passing by the Citicorp Bldg and getting bombed. I personally just wish that the government would consider removing those "lifers" in prison that been there forever and train them for combat before drafting (if ever needed) due to a shortage on peeps not enlisting voluntarily. Lord knows the prisons are overcrowded. So instead of the death penalty and staying in prison til they die of old age, use them.

True. But we still don't want our kids to be forced into it if the draft should ever go into effect.
 
Nobody wants a draft. Heck not even I. But if it means not getting hit by a piece of falling building while walking with my kids, then so be it. I'll be on the first bus into combat again.

And using American Prisoners is illegal and against the US Constitution.

Besides, would you trust a criminal with a history of Rape, murder, larsony to your freedom? I know I wouldn't.
