A former school teacher in Tuscaloosa County has been indicted on one count of second degree rape for having an improper relationship with a student.
30 year old Harriet Laquette Gordon of Tuscaloosa is accused of engaging in a mutral sexual affair with a 13 year old boy.
According to Captian Loretta Lowery, commander of the Tuscaloosa police juvenile division, the indictment alleges that Gordon had an affair with the boy from July to October 2004.
Investigators said Gordon met the boy, who is now in a state operated facility in south Alabama, while she was a special education teacher in Myrtlewood Elementary School in 2003.
Gordon is free on $10,000 bond
Her arrest on Tuesday came on the same day teachers in Tennessee and texas were charged in similar cases.(AP)
