What's the difference between NYC Freestyle and Miami Freestyle?

What 3 Radio stations in the US were pioneers of The New Rhythmic Crossover format back in the mid 80's which were big outlets for freestyle?

What producer discovered Nayobe?

TKA was originally a hip hop group, True or False?

Along with House, what two style of music in the early 90's ousted the rotation of Freestyle on Rhythmic crossover and Top 40 stations?

Um I think I know a few of these:

The first one I think is India.

Well to me NYC freestyle is based more on loneliness and longing for love with the tone of the music and the lyrics while the miami freestyle is more upbeat with happier themes to it.

Um I know Hot 103 was one of them but I don't know the rest.

TKA was indeed a Hip Hop group at first they went to Joey Gardner asking to do hip hop and instead he got them to sing.

Andy Panda discovered Nayobe.

I think Hip Hop is one of them but i'm not sure about the rest.

😛 😱 😛

Some of you got some of the questions right. Here are the answers:

1. India

2. NY Freestyle had heavy beats, the lyrics were more moody and discussed lost love. Miami Freestyle was more upbeat and soft, the lyrics were more jolly and party like.

3. Hot 105(Miami), Hot 103/Hot97(NYC), Power 106(LA) were the first Rhytmic Crossover stations in the mid 80's.

4. TKA was orinally a hip hop, but Joey Gardner(head of Tommy Boy at the time) turned down their hip hop demos.

5. On Rhythmic Crossover stations; Hip hop ousted freestyle. On Top 40 stations; alternative/grunge ousted it also.

6. Andy Pandy did discover a then 16 year old Nayobe Gomez in 1984.
