Jus curious. Between the soundalikes Alisha, Madonna, and Brenda K. Starr, who would you have said was the best in the early 80s pop teen queen sensation?

Alisha-Baby Talk
Brenda K. Starr-Pickin' Up Pieces of My Heart
Madonna-Sidewalk Talk

I say Alisha. She did it for me with "Stargazing" and "Too Turned On". Did I miss another soundalike as well?

You know what they all where hot with my favorite at the Time being Alisha then brenda k starr then madonna. Brenda has tons of great songs many of which is forgottan by mainstream freestyle fans.

OK, to clear this up (and im sure it wont be once and for all) Madonna ONLY did backup vocals on Sidewalk Talk.. She BARELY sang on that track. The vocals are actually done by someone else (who's name escape's me)

YO Scot u know ALisha is burning up all across many different channels on Sirius Radio!

Madonna.
Out of the 3, she came out first, & was the trend-setter. But I love them all.
And Madonna was the WRITER & did ALL THE CHORUS on "Side-Walk Talk", she wasn't just some "background singer". Katherine Buchanan did the main raps.

Alright, let me explain about the Madonna thing. Although she did the song, the track was released under John "Jellybean" Benitez's name-such as was "The Mexican" (With Jenny Haan) and Steven Dante's "The Real Thing," Elisa Fiorillo's "Who Found Who", and Adele Bertei "Just a Mirage." It's kind of like a project name, such as Concept of One or Intonation. However, Jellybean did release songs only with himself such as "Jingo". I'm just saying that out of these 3 sound-a-likes, who do you consider in your opinion is better. With "Sidewalk Talk", I wanted to have the real and full title and name and give respect and credit to Jellybean.

No doubt,
I love Jellybean & respect him ever-so, but he's not an 80's "teen queen" as posted above. lol. I just wanted to get it straight for that track.

But aside from that, ...well, you know my vote goes to Madonna. She was the trend-setter. But I still love all 3, & am a happy "Brenda-fanatic". 🙂

I would think Madonna opened the Door.

But Brenda Vocals are more Developed and stronger than Madonna

and Alisha could have been a stronger Singer that somehow got left behind in the Gay Dance clubs....But i Still live for all 3 of these woman and there Music.

Freestyle is alive in my Souls.........

I'm thinking Regina's "Baby Love" would've been a good replacement of Madonna in the question. She sounded like Madonna but only had the one hit that I can remember (I think there was a second single though). Comparing these artists, however, is like comparing apples to oranges. They each had their own uniqueness and each brought something different to the table.

I don't think any one can out-do Madonna....at least not in the 80's....my vote goes to the woman that should no longer sing cause she sucks now....Madonna

Regina resurfaced in 1990 with the modest Freestyle hit "Track You Down". 😉
