Fifteen years ago today on the billboard hot charts there was a freestyle song in the top ten: "walking away" by Information Society at number 10.

Also the pop house track "I wanna have some fun" by Samantha Fox was at number 8.

I was recovering from a hangover from the Tunnel the night before 😀 Anyone remember "Tainted love" by Impedance round that time? What about "Good life" by Inner City? Brings shivers up my spine 😱

Yes I remember those tracks I really liked Good Life and of course BIG FUN!!! ....word of advice...is it sure as shit to stir up a debate if you mention Information Society and the word Freestyle in one sentence around here. :lol Personally I couldn't care less.

I remember good life by inner city my fav house track that year.I also remember break for love, this is acid. Those quickly come to mind and of course the freestyle tracks that hot 97 would play like endless nights-cynthia,sincerely yours, hooked on you sweet sensation ,counting the days, everything i own,-joey kid i wanna be the one stevie b ,you are the one tka if u feel it denise lopez one man woman-?say its gonna rain-will to power.Theres so many more.I was too young to get in the clubs but I would listen to hot 97's saturday night dance party.sometimes they would have live performances on air from the clubs.

LMAO!!!! :shush

Info society was cool. More like a 'New Wave' band more than a Freestyle group. But "Running" was produced by Little Loue Vega, one of the founding fathers of freestyle. So was "pure energy" if I'm not mistaken. So those two tracks ARE solid freestyle with planet rock beats. But the group itself was on the nu wave tip.

It's not an opinion. its a FACT.

WDRE/LIR played thier stuff all the time.

Why doesnt KTU?

NUFF SAID.

Fact lol?Don't play yourself. The music is all latin percussion driven along with the horns and keyboards. So what if he sounds like a white boy from minnesota(which he is).He sung it with the latin passion and the music matched it and the rest is freestyle history 🙂

BTW the old Hot 97 played all of info society's songs.

big wooptie doo!

they still aint freestyle!

WDRE/LIR plays their songs AND THEY NEVER, EVER PLAY FREESTYLE.

HOT 97 also played FINE YOUNG CANNIBLES, AL B SURE & KEITH SWEAT, I guess it makes those groups "freestyle" also! :rolleyes

ill admit that "RUNNING" is freestyle but as for the rest, NO WAY. go to a INFO SOC board and see what they say. I did my investigating and I dont feel like doing it again.

Freestyle and New Wave back then were so similar that some considered it one in the same. Info Society, Depeche Mode, Voice In Fashion all crossed over. I cant tell you how many 12 inch records from 1986 that I have with Freestyle artists that have new wave mixes included along with the mixes that everyone is familiar with. So there are some tracks that just dont fit into one genre.

yes, but the people that listened to those groups DID NOT dress or go to the same clubs as freestyle fans did!

we called them "FREAKS"!
