I was only repeating what I've been told by *gasp* members of the "gay" community. To the English, that word has a much different meaning. In America it's a word of hate.

Perhaps Chuck and/or other gay members could chime in a tell us how they feel about that particular word. At least it will change the course of this topic into an entirely different direction thus making this my first offical thread jack at NYF.

To me, it doesnt seem that offensive of a word as it used to be. I have many gay friends and they always use the word as if it was just another word.

It's the equivalent of 2 African Americans calling each other the "N" word. It doesn't make it right, nor does it entitle you to start using it. Just ask Isiah Washington.

I honestly dont think its that bad of a word, not anymore at least. I call my gay friends "fag", "bone smuggler", "rump ranger" and other offensive words and they laugh it off and often attack me with straight humor. Its all fun in the end. (no pun intended!!!)

It could just be that they let you get away with it because they know you don't have any ill intent. 😉
