I'm older than dirt so for me it was Shannon's "Give me tonight" back in 1983 at a Junior High Valentine's day dance LOL I was also a big Lisa Lisa fan and listened to pretty much every freestyle song made back in the 80's.
i bought a collage tape back in 1995 and wanted to see what kind of music freestyle was... I mean i knew but all i knew was Stevie B and well..? I loved Collage, then started getting into Debbie Deb, and Lil Suzy.... They are my pioneers...Wurd
my first freestyle songs that got my attention were: give me tonight and the glamorous life (is that considered freestyle?) I remember one of the first times i heard give me tonight was on a road trip with my uncle out to kentucky to visit my cousins and he must have been playing a tape and i was like wow i like this .... first time i heard glamorous life was at my cousin johnys hs graduation party. I was mad young but i felt grown because i was at a party with all the "big kids" they played that song, people were breakdancing and popping. It was great.
The first freestyle song I LOVED was "Spring Love" *sigh* those days were so long ago. The next had to be "Change On Me" Ok let me stop now otherwise I'll just keep on going.... and going........and going. 😉
Roller Skating to Shannon and Freeze....first of all!!
When I started going into the clubs...
Strafe - Set It Off
Hanson and Davis - Hungry for your love
those were 2 of my favorites ...there are sooooo many though
Been there since the beginning, some of my favorite songs when they originally were relesed included "One more Shot" "let The Music Play" "Honey to a Bee" "Give Me TOnight" "I Wonder if I take You home". I started Buying freestyle records when Sweet Sensation came out, the combination of the nice single covers and Omar Santana's out of this world edits got me to buy All their singles.
