I CALLED KTU TONITE HERE IN NYC, SPOKE WITH JUDY TORRES AND ASK HER IF SHE COULD PLAY YO LITTLE BROTHER by NOLAN THOMAS.
I WANTED TO DEDICATE TO MY YOUNGER BROTHER WHO IS 14 AND LOVES FREESTYLE LIKE I DID WHEN I WAS HIS AGE < I'M 32 > ANYWAY SHE FEELS AND KTU FEELS THAT THIS SONG IS NOT CONSIDERED FREESTYLE. JUDY SAYS SHE LOVES THE SONG BUT SHE COULDN'T PLAY IT.🙁
SO I FIGURED WHAT A GREAT DEBATE THIS COULD BE ON CLUB FREESTYLE ? WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK ?

well, i have a collector's edition freestyle remix cd...and it's on the cd. (track 17). i guess it depends on who you ask. some real old schoolers would probably consider it freestyle (the beginning of), while the rest don't look at it as the "typical" freestyle music we are used to hearing.

I WOULD DEFINETLY SAY IT WAS FREESTYLE...IN IT'S EARLY STAGES, ALSO BARBOSA PRODUCED IT, NEED I SAY MORE....

I've always considered it freestyle...... but even if someone didn't it would be close enough that it should be played on a freestyle show..... 🙂

DENGEL *WIK-IT RECORDS*

That is crazy DENGEL says its FREESTYLE alllllll the way to china town. Im calling judy TODAY.

hell no!

is everyone on CRACK???

There is NO FREESTYLE in the song!!!!

its RAP in the simplest form!

theres rapping all over the song!

as for the track listing given out before by ROCK84, half those song arent even FREESTYLE. most are considered HOUSE.

Another song to debate about......lol

As for not playing it because it's not freestyle, Judy's played "This Is Acid" by Maurice during her show, which is NOT freestyle at all.

The station probably didn't have the song, and she was covering for it.

lol

Regardless of what it is, Judy Torres should've played it since it was a request from a radio listener.

They always emphasize the fact that you should call in a request your favorite song, and that is what Gumby did.

Shame on you, Judy. Don't forget, the only reason you have this show on Sunday nights is because people like us tune in to listen.

Hey, I have a request for next Sunday's show, "Naughty Girls" by Samantha Fox. Thanks.

No, Judy was right not to play it. For once, there is show dedicated to freestyle and that is what should be played.

Yeah, but if you take a look at all these threads in the past few weeks, who know's what Freestyle is anymore.

What you personally consider Freestyle, may not be what someone else considers Freestyle. And who has the last word, Judy? Oh, I forgot! She's the "Queen" of Freestyle.

So if I called in and requested "AEIOU and Sometimes Y", she wouldn't play it? 'Cus to me, it's Freestyle. To other's it's not.

Is It Freestyle???

I agree with Kenny and ChuckD, although I love the stuff Chris Barbosa has done especially the George Lamond stuff. The other songs that show their faces on alot of compilations I have to add to the list of not freestyle would be...

Pay at your own risk Planet Patrol

Don't Stop the rock Freestyle

The Mexican Jellybean

I love the songs above but they aren't freestyle

If it is being considered freestyle than I am playing it this friday on my radio show the "Friday Freestyle Fix"

It's definitely not rap....... it's too melodic...... 🙂

There will always be those songs that are "borderline" songs, could fall into the genre of freestyle, but maybe not.

Perfect example, on my station I have the songs "Cupid" and "Boy Toy" by Tia.......some peeps don't consider them freestyle, but some consider them "borderline" freestyle.

Ooooooh Chuck Boy Toy!!!!!!! Great song!!!!!! I always considered it freestyle........
What about Jay Novelle "If This Ain't Love" which is similar to Yo Little Brother......

Sietz

I agree with Chuck, I think it is a "borderline" song.

However, Judy has played non-freestyle before & I think Kenny is right, they probably didn't have the song & she was covering.

Hey I called once & requested a Judy Torres song & she couldn't play it because they "didn't have it in the studio" I think a better answer would be "this is not live & it is not on any of the CD's we programmed!"

But that is another story 😉
