Many studies said that back then it did mean that she gave birth without being married. That's way she was shun from everyone. It's just funny how we interpret things today that occured many years ago. Years change and their meaning changes. So I do believe she wasn't married. But of course the religion teaches us different. And do I know, been to catholic school for 12yrs.
